A full shelter isn’t the beginning of the crisis. It’s the receipt for everything we failed to prevent before that animal arrived.
This month alone, 284 animals have entered our shelter. Only 64 have been adopted.
We are FULL. We cannot accept any new drop-off appointments this week, and we are already scheduling toward the end of the month.
Please don’t mistake “we don’t have space today” for “we don’t care.”
We are actively trying to LOWER euthanasia. When every kennel is full, taking another animal immediately can mean making an impossible decision about an animal already here. Scheduling an intake when we have space can save a life.
We need our community’s help.
🐾 Spay and neuter your pets AND community animals.
🐾 Adopt or foster.
🐾 CALL before bringing an animal to the shelter.
🐾 If you know you’ll need to surrender, CALL NOW. Don’t wait until the day before you leave island or move.
We have the heart. What we don’t have is unlimited space.
Please help us prevent the next intake. ❤️🐾

💛 133 SURGERIES. TWO WEEKS. ONE AMAZING VET. 💛
If your pet visited our SNIP Clinic Guam in the last two weeks, there’s a good chance you have Dr. Yuko to thank! 🐾
We had a two-week gap without a veterinarian between our relief vet and resident vet, and rather than close the clinic and pause surgeries, Dr. Yuko stepped up and came to Guam to help.
In just two weeks, she helped us complete 133 spay and neuter surgeries — 133 animals who are now part of the solution to reducing pet overpopulation on our island. 🐶🐱
We are SO grateful for the time, skill, and care she gave our animals and our community. Her impact in such a short time was incredible, and our team is definitely going to miss her!
Dr. Yuko, thank you for coming to Guam, keeping SNIP going, and helping us save lives. We can’t wait to have you back! 💕
Help us send her off with lots of love — join us in saying THANK YOU, DR. YUKO! 👏🐾

🐾 VOLUNTEERS NEEDED FOR PET PALOOZA! 🐾
Want to spend your Saturday with puppies, kittens, good music, and an entire community of animal lovers — while helping save lives?! ❤️
GAIN is bringing adoptable pets to Agana Shopping Center’s PET PALOOZA, and we need an awesome volunteer crew to help us make it happen!
📅 Saturday, September 19
⏰ 10 AM – 6 PM
📍 Agana Shopping Center
There are lots of ways to help! 🙌
🐶 Adoption Volunteers – Hang out with puppies & kittens, help with meet & greets, welcome visitors, and help our animals find their families!
🚗 Animal Transport – Help bring adoptable puppies & kittens from our Yigo shelter to the event — and help us “restock” as pets get adopted!
📦 AM Setup – Help us move displays and supplies from our GPO Adoption Center and get Pet Palooza ready to go!
🧹 PM Breakdown – Help pack everything up, transport it back to GPO, and reset our Adoption Center!
And while you’re there, enjoy local vendors, live DJs, raffles, a pet fashion show, tons of furry friends, and hopefully LOTS of adoptions! 🎶🐕🐈✨
Every extra set of hands means we can bring more animals, reach more families, and send more shelter pets HOME.
Come out. Have a good time. Support your shelter. Save some lives. ❤️🐾

🍼🐾 WISH LIST WEDNESDAY
Our shelves are getting EMPTY, and we are in serious need of supplies for our puppies and kittens!
🚨 We are completely OUT of:
🍼 Puppy formula
🍼 Kitten formula
⚠️ And running LOW on:
🐶 Puppy food
🐱 Kitten food
These supplies directly help us save lives. When tiny babies arrive who need to be bottle-fed, having formula on hand can be the difference between us being able to help them or not. We also rely on these supplies to send our puppies and kittens into foster homes with everything they need. ❤️
Want to help?
📦 Drop donations directly at the shelter
🛒 Shop our Amazon Wish List and have supplies shipped straight to us!

Even one bag of food or container of formula makes a difference. Help us restock our shelves so we can keep saying YES to animals who need us. 🐾❤️

🚨 PUPPY OVERFLOW!
We have a puppy problem… TOO. MANY. PUPPIES. 🐶🐶🐶
Our puppy kennels are FULL, and with even more pups returning from foster next week, we need to make space NOW!
💥 ALL PUPPIES CURRENTLY AT THE SHELTER ARE JUST $75 TO ADOPT! 💥
Why adopt a shelter puppy? Because you’re not just getting an adorable new best friend—you’re giving a homeless puppy a fresh start AND opening a kennel for the next puppy who needs us. ❤️
Your future:
🐾 Adventure buddy
🐾 Couch cuddler
🐾 Snack inspector
🐾 Professional tail-wagger
🐾 Best friend for LIFE
…might literally be sitting in one of our kennels right now waiting for you.
Puppies grow up, but the goofy greetings, unconditional love, couch snuggles, and pure JOY they bring can last a lifetime. 🥹❤️
The $75 Puppy Overflow Promo runs through Monday, September 7—or until we CLEAR THE PUPPY KENNELS!
📍 Come to GAIN and meet them.
🏠 Adopt a puppy.
❤️ Open a kennel.
🐶 Help us save the next one.
PLEASE SHARE! Even if you can’t adopt, your share could find one of these puppies their family.
LET’S CLEAR THESE KENNELS! 🚨🐾

💔 August was supposed to be Luka’s month.
It was Clear the Shelter Month. Over 100 animals found homes. And we really, really thought our longest-term resident would finally be one of them.
But Luka is still waiting.
For over 100 days, Luka has been waiting for a family to choose her. 🥺
Before coming to GAIN, Luka was a friendly neighborhood boonie — the kind of dog who happily wandered from house to house, making friends with everyone on the street. But Luka kept having puppies, other boonies kept having puppies, and eventually the neighborhood was overwhelmed. A Good Samaritan brought her to us knowing what we know now:
Luka was meant to be someone’s family dog. ❤️
She is friendly, playful, active, and LOVES getting out for walks. She’d make an amazing adventure buddy for someone who wants a dog ready to explore, run, play, and then come home knowing she finally belongs somewhere.
She has spent more than 100 days waiting.
September has to be Luka’s month. 🐾
Please share her. Tag someone looking for a boonie best friend. Come meet her.
Let’s get our longest resident HOME. 🏡❤️
Catching a street dog can be challenging 😅 but here is a great example of when it goes as smoothly as possible!🎉
This clip was from my visit to the island of Guam earlier this year. There I provided training in animal handling & capture for shelter staff and animal control 🐶🌴
Was the muzzle wrap necessary with this dog? 🤔 Probably not! But, I’m there to teach - not to catch. I like to demonstrate techniques and encourage students to practice skills when the stakes are lower. This prepares them to handle animals safely and effectively when situations get tricky 🥰
Ps - Notice how I’m covering the dog’s eyes as I carry him. This is an intentional way of reducing his stress by decreasing visual stimuli 🙈
✈️ Today I’m finishing up prepping for another trip - this time to Nepal. I’ll be working to protect red pandas through dog population management. Can’t wait to share the adventure with you! ✈️
