Studying the anoxic bottom and its extreme conditions in the Amvrakikos Gulf as part of the Amvrakikos Alliance project https://amvrakikosalliance.net/ . Almost nightmarish scenes of the dark, oxygen-deprived depths, a stark contrast to the playful dolphins of Amvrakikos 🐬 that accompanied us during our research.
In the coming years, we’ll be there — Amvrakikos deserves nothing less.

Το Oceanus Lab συμμετείχε το Σάββατο 21/3 στις 18:30 στα εγκαίνια της περιοδικής έκθεσης του Μουσείου Επιστημών και Τεχνολογίας (ΜΕΤ) του Πανεπιστημίου Πατρών, με τίτλο: «Πλαστικά στις θάλασσες, οι λύσεις στη Γη».
Μικροί και μεγάλοι ταξίδεψαν μαζί μας στα βάθη της Μεσογείου, ανακαλύπτοντας έναν διαφορετικό βυθό. Έναν βυθό που μας καλεί να σκεφτούμε, να ευαισθητοποιηθούμε και να δράσουμε.
Μέσα από αυτή την εμπειρία, αναδείχθηκε η ανάγκη για προστασία των θαλασσών μας και η δύναμη που έχουμε όλοι να συμβάλλουμε στη λύση!

This recognition highlights the scientific quality and methodological rigor of the work carried out by Oceanus-Lab within the framework of the Cyclades LIFE project, coordinated by WWF Greece.

Oceanus-Lab, an academic institution with extensive
expertise in marine habitat mapping and marine environmental research, played a central role in the implementation of this study, applying advanced methodologies for high-resolution seabed mapping and habitat characterization. The inclusion of this work in the European Commission’s technical guidelines underscores the importance of robust scientific approaches for the effective assessment, conservation, and management of marine habitats protected under the Habitats Directive.

Θα χαρούμε να σας δούμε στα εγκαίνια της περιοδικής έκθεσης «Πλαστικά στη θάλασσα; Οι λύσεις στη Γη!», το Σάββατο 21 Μαρτίου στις 18:30, στο Μουσείο Επιστημών και Τεχνολογίας.
Σας περιμένουμε όλους εκεί - φέρτε μαζί και τους μικρούς μας φίλους, καθώς θα ακολουθήσουν διαδραστικές παρουσιάσεις!

Οι δράσεις στο πλαίσιο του προγράμματος «Τα σχολεία πάνε πανεπιστήμιο» συνεχίζονται! Σήμερα , όπως και την προηγούμενη εβδομάδα είχαμε τη χαρά να υποδεχτούμε μαθητές της Β΄ Γυμνασίου, τους οποίους ξεναγήσαμε στον συναρπαστικό κόσμο της θαλάσσιας γεωλογίας. Μέσα από παρουσιάσεις αλλά και διαδραστικές δραστηριότητες, οι μαθητές είχαν την ευκαιρία να γνωρίσουν τι κρύβεται κάτω από την επιφάνεια του νερού και να έρθουν πιο κοντά στην επιστήμη!

Ευχαριστούμε θερμά τον ΕΟΑΝ (Ελληνικό Οργανισμό Ανακύκλωσης) για την αναφορά στο πρόγραμμα LIFE DEBAG, στο πλαίσιο της εκδήλωσης για τα 30 χρόνια του Προγράμματος LIFE, που διοργανώθηκε από το Πράσινο Ταμείο. Η εκδήλωση πραγματοποιήθηκε την Πέμπτη 26 Μαΐου 2022 στην έδρα του Πράσινου Ταμείου, στη Βίλα Καζούλη στην Κηφισιά. ο Διευθύνων Σύμβουλος του Οργανισμού, κ. Ν. Χιωτάκης, κατά την τοποθέτησή του, αναφέρθηκε στα σημαντικά έργα LIFE στα οποία συμμετείχε και συνεχίζει να συμμετέχει ο Ελληνικός Οργανισμός Ανακύκλωσης. Ανάμεσά τους βρίσκεται και το LIFE DEBAG (2014–2017), μια ολοκληρωμένη εκστρατεία ενημέρωσης και ευαισθητοποίησης για τη μείωση της πλαστικής σακούλας στο θαλάσσιο περιβάλλον. At , we introduced the Vodafone Posidonia Program – where science, innovation, and ocean conservation come together! We also presented "Mapping of Coralligenous Formations in Cyclades" with the support of Athanasios C. Laskaridis charitable foundation and Athina I. Martinou foundation, where we showcased the hidden beauty of coralligenous formations – unique underwater habitats rich in biodiversity.
Visitors experienced both Posidonia oceanica and coralligenous formations up close through live ROV demonstrations and side-scan sonar in action.
