Opening of Painting Exhibition “The painter Aglaia Papa – Corfiot and European”

Painting exhibition of Aglaia Papa at the Municipal Art Gallery of Central Corfu and Diapontia Islands.

The Municipal & Regional Theatre of Corfu in the framework of the INTERREG IPA CBC Greece – Albania 2014 – 2020 project, “Fostering Creativity and Connecting Cultural Assets through Monuments” (RyTHM) is organizing the painting exhibition «The painter Aglaia Papa - Corfiot and European». The exhibition is being held in collaboration with the Municipal Art Gallery of Central Corfu and Diapontia Islands, as the works belong to its collection.
The opening of the exhibition will take place on Wednesday 12th of February 2020.

Την Κυριακή 3 Νοεμβρίου 2019, πραγματοποιήθηκαν στο πλαίσιο του έργου «Fostering Creativity and Connecting Cultural Assets through Monuments» (RyTHM) του προγράμματος INTERREG IPA CBC Ελλάδα – Αλβανία 2014 – 2020 τα εγκαίνια έκθεσης ζωγραφικής της Αγλαΐας Παπά στο Πολιτιστικό Κέντρο Λειβαδιάς. Η έκθεση εντάχθηκε στις εκδηλώσεις του Δήμου Φοινικαίων για την ονοματοδοσία του Πολιτιστικού Κέντρου, το οποίο έλαβε το όνομα της αδελφής της ζωγράφου, της συγγραφέως Κατίνας Παπά.

Στόχος της έκθεσης είναι η ανάδειξη της σχέσης των δύο περιοχών και η απόδοση φόρου τιμής στη μνήμη των αδελφών Παπά, οι οποίες γεννήθηκαν στις αρχές του 20ου αιώνα στους Γιαννιτσάτες του Δήμου Φοινικαίων και έζησαν ένα μεγάλο μέρος της ζωής τους στην Κέρκυρα, όπου και διακρίθηκαν στη λογοτεχνία και στη ζωγραφική αντίστοιχα.
Η έκθεση περιλαμβάνει ακριβή αντίγραφα έργων της Αγλαΐας Παπά από τη συλλογή της Πινακοθήκης του Δήμου Κέρκυρας, η οποία παραχώρησε την άδεια αναπαραγωγής τους.

Στην εκδήλωση συμμετείχε το μουσικό συγκρότημα ION Ensemble της Κέρκυρας, το οποίο παρουσίασε πρόγραμμα με επτανησιακή μουσική.

On Sunday 3 November 2019, the inauguration of the painting exhibition of Aglaia Papa at the Livadia Cultural Center was held in the context of the "Fostering Creativity and Connecting Cultural Assets through Monuments" (RyTHM) of the INTERREG IPA CBC Greece - Albania 2014 - 2020 project.

The exhibition was included in the events of the Municipality of Phoinice for the naming of the Cultural Center, which took the name of the painter's sister, the author Katina Papa.
The purpose of the exhibition is to highlight the relationship between the two regions and to pay tribute to the memory of the Papa sisters, who were born in the early 20th century in Giannitsates of the Municipality of Phoinice and lived a large part of their lives in Corfu, where they distinguished themselves in literature and painting respectively.

The exhibition includes precise copies of Aglaia Papa’s works from the collection of the Municipal Gallery of Corfu, which granted the licence for their reproduction.
The event was attended by the band ION Ensemble of Corfu, which presented a program with Ionian music.

The second project meeting of the cross- border cooperation project “RyTHM- Fostering Creativity and Connecting Cultural Assets through Monuments” was successfully held on 30th of September in Corfu. The meeting was organized by the Municipal and Regional Theatre of Corfu with the participation of representatives from the Ephorate of Antiquities of Corfu and the Municipality of Finiq, Albania.
