Έλα το Σάββατο 5-7μμ στην Λεωνίδου 89. Ο νέος μας χώρος χρειάζεται ακόμη αγάπη, φροντίδα και σοβά ή μπογιά.

Δεν ξέρεις από εργαλεία αλλά πάντα ήθελες να μάθεις; Με καλή παρέα και μουσική θα μαστορέψουμε γεμίζοντας ένα παλιό σπίτι με ζωή.

dreamstream is a space opening, a zine and an overnight collective sound collage hosted by Dimitris Chimonas at the new Communitism space in Metaxourgeio, taking place on Sunday May 31st from 22:00 until 6AM.
Emerging from a period of renovating the small studio at Leonidou 89, dreamstream unfolds as an overnight gathering exploring the politics and poetics of the night. Drawing from recent journeys through night trains, shared sleep, unfinished archives and Athens’ nocturnal sociality, the project proposes placemaking as an urgent gesture, transforming the studio into a temporary gathering spot equipped with a sound system, microphones and spaces for drifting, conversation and rest.
At the centre of the evening is an eight-hour collective recording running continuously from 22:00 until sunrise. Friends, collaborators, lovers, and strangers are invited to contribute anything from music to readings, poetry, discussions, recordings, improvisations, noise and silence, collectively composing a sonic document of the gathering and using sound as an excuse to assemble after daylight has withdrawn.

An unfinished zine composed of 365 photographs will also be shared. 
Some drinks and snacks will be offered. BYOB. 

P.S. If you would like to contribute sonically, you can confirm with beforehand or simply play it by ear on the night. (minimum duration: 1 minute)

Our new artis residency kicked off this week and it's unlike any other! We are thrilled to welcome interdisciplinary artists Sophie Allerding and Daniel Siegersma to Communitism.

Instead of a standard flight, Sophie and Daniel are slow-travelling from Hamburg all the way to Athens. Along the way they have an ambitious plan: creating live performances inside trains and buses, talking to strangers and tackling the them of loneliness with their custom ''toolkit of how to talk to strangers''.

They will be with us from May 31st to June 15th and their residency splits into two exciting phases:

🌱 WEEK 1 > Gathering & Connecting
They will be on the ground running to meet our neighborhood, listen to local stories and intergrate with the community. They said if you see them around, don't hesitate and say ''Hi''!

📻 WEEK 2 > LIVE On Air at Leonidou 89
Every single evening, from 6 to 8 AM they will turn our space into a live, online community radio station! Expect interviews, heated discussions, performance art and fun local moments.

TiSP Deep Connections : RESIDENCIES

Dimitris Chimonas ( ) is an artist and theatre maker whose practice explores the intersection of choreography, performance, and social situations. Moving between the stage, the gallery and the dance floor, Chimonas investigates how collective agency and spectatorship are negotiated through humor and play. He is a co-founder of a q***r platform for performance in Cyprus that transforms institutional spaces into porous sites for experimentation. A graduate of East15 Acting School and a fellow of Ashkal Alwan, he is currently an MA candidate in Art Praxis at the Dutch Art Institute.

As part of the TiSp residency, Dimitris is embarking on a slow-travel journey from Brussels to Athens via trains, buses, and boats, drawing a deliberate line from North to South to explore shifting cultural and postcolonial landscapes.

Throughout his stay in Athens (8/5–31/5), he will host a welcome dinner on May 8th at 21:00 and culminate his residency with a series of nighttime workshops from May 28th to 30th. These sessions will focus on the "minor bodies" of the metropolis—drifters, q***rs, and workers of the night—exploring how these figures of the periphery can be staged through noise, mystery, and collective witnessing.

Μνήμες μιας γειτονιάς - Εργαστήριο συλλογικών αναγνώσεων

Σε μια συλλογική εξερεύνηση του Μεταξουργείου μέσα από τις άυλες ιστορίες του (λέξεις, λογοτεχνικά αποσπάσματα, αρχειακά ίχνη και μαρτυρίες) θα δημιουργήσουμε, με συλλογικές αφηγηματικές διαδικασίες και ακουστικό πειραματισμό, ένα μικρό ηχητικό ντοκιμαντέρ / podcast. Μέσα από βιωματικές εμπειρίες, αναγνώσεις και παρατήρηση, θα επιχειρήσουμε να αφηγηθούμε τον τόπο και τις μνήμες του με συμμετοχικό τρόπο.

Οι Polis Spinners είναι μια διεπιστημονική ομάδα που δημιουργεί κοινότητα μέσα από πολλαπλές αφηγήσεις για την πόλη, με έμφαση στην επικοινωνία της επιστήμης της πόλης. Γεννήθηκε από μια αρχιτεκτόνισσα και μια πολεοδόμο, με κοινό όραμα συμπεριληπτικούς και ζωντανούς αστικούς τόπους. Συνεργάζονται με τη Ναυσικά Στεφανίδου, αρχαιολόγο και πολιτιστική διαχειρίστρια, η οποία υλοποιεί βιωματικές δράσεις πολιτιστικής κληρονομιάς και ερευνά τη μνήμη του αστικού χώρου και το ηχοτοπίο.

Το εργαστήριο θα πραγματοποιηθεί στο Kookooli by Communitism, Κατερίνης 10, Βοτανικός.

Μια ανοιχτή διαδικασία επανερμηνείας της άυλης πολιτιστικής κληρονομιάς του Μεταξουργείου μέσα από την τέχνη, την αφήγηση και τη συνάντηση.
Ξεκινάμε με session 0 στις 7/2 | 12:00 (γνωριμία & πλαίσιο) και ολοκληρώνουμε με closing event στις 29/3 | 17:00, όπου τα έργα, οι αφηγήσεις και τα ίχνη των εργαστηρίων συναντιούνται.

Communitism is excited to announce its participation in the exhibition "Caring for spaces, Spaces for caring" organized by the Brussels Centre for Urban Studies and curated by Verena Lenna and Arshia Ali Azmat.

The photography and video exhibition captures how communities across Europe reclaim vacant buildings and abandoned sites as spaces of care, creating urban commons that are both generative and resilient. From Athens to Brussels, from refugee shelters in Bosnia to artist compounds in Marseille, these initiatives transform fragility into resilience, turning occupation into a practice of care, resistance, and collective imagination for more inclusive urban futures.

We want to thank warmly the photographers Olga Stefatou, Dimitra Papageorgiou, Natasa Pantazopoulou and Ernst Van Deursen, along with "The Prototype" team, Marilena Gkirlemi, Efrosyni Tsiritaki and George Matsikas for the contribution of their work.
