Engineers just demonstrated a hydrogen combustion engine that extracts its fuel directly from atmospheric water v***r — running continuously on humidity alone with zero carbon emissions and zero external fuel supply required.

A team from the Korea Institute of Energy Research developed an atmospheric water harvesting system using metal-organic framework sorbents that extract water v***r from air at humidities as low as 20% — capturing 4.7 liters of water per kilogram of sorbent material per day. This water feeds a solid oxide electrolyzer splitting it into hydrogen and oxygen using 2.3 kilowatts of electrical input from integrated solar panels. The hydrogen powers a modified combustion engine producing 8.7 kilowatts of continuous mechanical output — a net energy gain of 6.4 kilowatts from atmospheric humidity alone.

The system operates continuously day and night — solar panels charge a supercapacitor buffer during daylight ensuring uninterrupted hydrogen production through the night. Field testing across 60 days in semi-arid Korean conditions confirmed reliable operation at ambient humidities between 25 and 85%.

Μα φυσικά γινόταν και ανά τον κόσμο υπήρχαν ραδιοφωνικές εκπομπές που εξέπεμπαν όλα τα ηχητικά δεδομένα ενός παιχνιδιού!
Ο ακροατής-υποψήφιος gamer, έπρεπε απλά να πατήσει το rec στο ραδιοκασετόφωνο του, ούτως ώστε να «γράψει» τα data στην κασέτα. Έπειτα μπορούσε να «φορτώσει» το παιχνίδι στα ενσωματωμένα ή εξωτερικά κασετόφωνα των τότε υπολογιστών.

Απαγορευμένο φαν φακτ: Αυτό μπορείτε να το κάνετε και σήμερα μέσω του smartphone σας, κατεβάζοντας διάφορες εφαρμογές που έχουν «φορτωμένα» εκατοντάδες retro games και συνδέοντας το κινητό σας με τον παλαιό υπολογιστή με ένα καλώδιο ακουστικών… Μετά play...

Ο Γιουγκοσλάβος ραδιοφωνικός παραγωγός Zoran Modli, μέσω της εκπομπής του «Ventilator 202» είχε εκπέμψει περισσότερα από 150 προγράμματα/παιχνίδια μεταξύ 1983 και 1986. Σύμφωνα με πληροφορίες, ο Modli είχε ενημερώσει τους τεχνικούς του ραδιοφωνικού σταθμού Beograd 202, να μην ανησυχούν όταν ακούν στον αέρα «σφυρίγματα». Τα οποία, βεβαίως, δεν ήταν κάτι άλλο, από τα ηχητικά δεδομένα των videogames!

Ήταν το 1979 ή το 1980 όταν ο NOS -ένας Ολλανδικός ραδιοτηλεοπτικός οργανισμός Nederlandse Omroep Stichting- είχε ξεκινήσει να μεταδίδει προγράμματα υπολογιστή μέσω ραδιοφώνου στην εκπομπή για χομπίστες υπολογιστών, «Hobbyscoop».
Αρχικά, αυτά τα προγράμματα μπορούσαν να χρησιμοποιηθούν μόνο σε συγκεκριμένα μηχανήματα, όπως το Tandy TRS-80 (ο εικονιζόμενος), το Commodore PET, το Apple-II ή το Exidy Sorcerer.
Οι μεταδόσεις δεδομένων εκείνη την εποχή είχαν δύο μεγάλα μειονεκτήματα: έπρεπε να μεταδοθεί κάθε πρόγραμμα/παιχνίδι τέσσερις φορές και επίσης αν η κασέτα του ακροατή ήταν ταλαιπωρημένη ή όχι και τόσο καλής ποιότητας, τα κατεβασμένα παιχνίδια δεν έπαιζαν.

Για να λυθεί αυτό το ζήτημα, το 1982, οι άνθρωποι της εκπομπής Hobbyscoop είχαν την ιδέα να εφεύρουν μια τυπική μορφή κασέτας, η οποία θα ήταν κατάλληλη για να μεταδίδουν προγράμματα/παιχνίδια BASIC μέσω του ραδιοφωνικού σήματος. Αυτός ο τύπος κασέτας ονομάστηκε BASICODE.

Στo Ηνωμένο Βασίλειο το Radio West εξέπεμψε για πρώτη φορά data για υπολογιστή, αυτά αφορούσαν μια ασπρόμαυρη εικόνα 40 x 80-pixel της Cheryl Ladd από την τηλεοπτική σειρά «Οι Άγγελοι του Τσάρλι».

Η εκπομπή των ηχητικών δεδομένων των videogames γινόταν με διάφορες τεχνικές διαμόρφωσης, ASK (Amplitude Shift Keying), PSK (phase shift keying) ή QAM (Quadrature amplitude modulation).

The machine code to draw it were printed in a Compute! magazine. My brother worked a graveyard shift and spent his spare time entering the zeros & 1s for many, many hours. It didn't work.

A month later the magazine printed the bug report with the corrections to the code. Once the code was updated, it ran but seemed to freeze up the machine. Once, when trying to run it, a long telephone call had him leave the machine with the program running.

An hour later, 25% was drawn. It took a few hours to draw on screen and I knew that it would never be run again, so I took a photo.
