Money to Burn - Argos 09/02/2021

Interested in new cross-border investigations? 🕵️‍♀️
Check Ties Gijzel post from Are We Europe: "Are you interested in investigative journalism? And is there a topic that you think that should be really investigated across borders? Then we should talk!
Last year, I started working as an investigative journalist for the Dutch public broadcaster VPRO to set up new international investigations. The previous months, I've worked on an investigation into deforestation in Estonia (see below) with a.o. The Guardian, DER SPIEGEL and Expresso.
For the coming year, it would be interesting to do something similar. Is there a topic that you think that should be investigated in a European team, including e.g. Are We Europe and the VPRO? Let us know!"

Money to Burn - Argos Money to Burn is an investigation by a team of journalists and European newsrooms, led by Argos and funded by Investigative Journalism for Europe.

As a recipient of Google DNI funds, we are amazed by the great projects funded throughout featured in 's final report on the impact of the Digital News Innovations Fund and we couldn’t agree more with the introductory statement: "The only real, substantive guarantee of the independence of news media – which is critical for the well-being of pluralist democracies – is their own economic success, not government subsidies or gifts from wealthy donors: you never know when either one might run out."
