Στα σύνορα Αττικής και Βοιωτίας, «κρυμμένο» μέσα σε πεύκα και άλλα δέντρα που περιβάλλουν τη μικρή κοιλάδα του Μαυροδηλεσίου, την οποία διασχίζει ένα ξερό ποτάμι που οι αρχαίοι ονόμαζαν Χαράδρα, βρίσκεται το Αμφιάρειο του Ωρωπού. Το Αμφιάρειο ήταν #ιαματικό ιερό και απευθυνόταν σε όσους ήθελαν να θεραπευτούν. Το τυπικό ήταν συγκεκριμένο, όπως πληροφορούν οι επιγραφές από το ιερό, αλλά και ο Παυσανίας που το επισκέφτηκε τον 2ο αι. μ.Χ. Οι ενδιαφερόμενοι έπρεπε να πληρώσουν δικαίωμα εισόδου και για αντάλλαγμα έπαιρναν ένα μολυβένιο εισιτήριο με ανάγλυφες τις μορφές του Αμφιαράου και της Υγιείας και τις λέξεις ΙΕΡΟΝ ΑΜΦΙΑΡΑΟΥ ΥΓΙΕΙΑ. Εντυπωσιακό είναι το θέατρο του 2ου αι. π.Χ., που βρίσκεται πίσω και λίγο ψηλότερα από τη στοά. Το μνημείο παρουσιάζει εξαιρετικό ενδιαφέρον καθώς σώθηκαν, μεταξύ άλλων και πέντε πλούσια στολισμένοι μαρμάρινοι θρόνοι του 1ου αι. π.Χ. που διασώζουν την ίδια επιγραφή (ότι ο ιερέας Νίκων τους αφιέρωσε στον θεό Αμφιάραο). #διάζωμα #συνέργειες #πολιτισμός
At the boundary between Attica and Boeotia, concealed among the pine trees and other vegetation surrounding the small valley of Mavrodilesi, through which runs a dry riverbed known in antiquity as the Charadra, lies the Amphiareion of Oropos. The Amphiareion was a sanctuary dedicated to those seeking a cure. The ritual procedure was highly prescribed, as attested both by the inscriptions discovered at the sanctuary and by Pausanias, who visited the site in the 2nd century AD. Visitors seeking healing were required to pay an admission fee and, in return, received a leaden ticket bearing relief representations of Amphiaraus and Hygieia, together with the inscription ΙΕΡΟΝ ΑΜΦΙΑΡΑΟΥ ΥΓΙΕΙΑ (“Sanctuary of Amphiaraus, Hygieia”). The theater of the site, dating back to 2nd century BC, is very impressive and of exceptional interest, among other reasons, because it preserves five richly decorated marble seats dating to the 1st century BC. All five bear the same dedicatory inscription, stating that the priest Nikon dedicated them to the god Amphiaraus.
