I really do love tour guides. In fact, for almost every day for five weeks this spring, I’m enjoying two guides a day: one from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. for the sights, and one from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. for restaurants and the evening scene. I’m in hog heaven! And we’re out during snow or sun…sometimes on successive days. Here I am (next to the Bateau-Lavoir, where Picasso and his artsy friends slummed together as he invented Cubism) — freezing with Brad from Paris Walks (that's not dandruff on my shoulders…it’s snow…in April!), and the next day I’m with Angelos checking out the shiny new National Gallery in Athens in the delightfully hot Greek sun. (Put that on your list next time you’re in Athens: it’s like the Orsay Gallery of Greece — all the art from 1850 on, but by Greek artists. It seems Greece goes through the same artistic trends as western Europe but 20 years later.)
