Reorchestrating Beethoven’s Seventh Symphony for a Romantic-era-sized orchestra has been the greatest challenge of my compositional life so far. This “experiment” does not stem from any blasphemous ambition to improve this monumental masterpiece, but rather from a desire to explore how its sound world might be enriched through the capabilities of modern instruments, overcoming some of the limitations of their period counterparts.

The world premiere of this version will take place tonight at the majestic Odeon of Herodes Atticus, performed by the wonderful musicians of the Greek Radio Symphony Orchestra, to whom I am deeply grateful for making this achievement possible.
