Singer-songwriter Ali George has been on the folk scene in the south-west of the UK for twenty years.

Just came back from a little trip to the gorgeous Greek island of Agistri! It was so peaceful. Barely a car in sight! The weather was fairly sh*te, but we had a great time all the same! Lots of amazing seafood and some nice walks in the woods! 🇬🇷

The wifey and I are on our first holiday together in many years! I say we’re on holiday… I’m on holiday, Olia’s on a work trip, so she’s working! We’ve gone to the beautiful Greek island of Lefkada! It’s heaven, just heaven (Thats a little Ted Danson quote from Curb Your Enthusiasm! hehe! 😛). But it actually is like paradise here. Amazing! We’re so lucky! It’s my first time swimming in the Ionian Sea. The water feels amazing!

This song was sparked by a childhood memory. A memory from so long ago, that it’s brittle, fragmented.
My dad took me out exploring in the woods and fields one day when I was maybe five or six.
We ended up following a sandy track, spotting various animals and plants as we walked. From this memory the lyrics sprung and the song evolved.
“Fossils & Thistles” is out tomorrow on all major platforms.

As some of you may know, for the last few years I have been working on an album that I'm recording in my modest home studio. I've been recording a lot recently, making good progress! I have ten songs currently in various stages of development. Recently I've found I can concentrate better recording by candlelight. Having a relaxing atmosphere when doing a recording session is so important!
This song is one I wrote a few years back about my wife and her struggle with grief after losing her mother. Over the years I've made many recordings of "Azure", but nothing ever did it justice. Recently I've been attempting to record it live (rather than with overdubbed vocals), to try get more of an intimate feel. This recording session went pretty well, but not well enough unfortunately! I'm such a perfectionist these days, so I'll keep trying 'til I get it right!
