But I assure you, it is still there...}

You will live on the first floor of one of the oldest houses, within the ancient walls, in the historic center of Athens: The oldest documents show the house was built in 1869, though traces of an older building were found in the basement, during restoration. Not so strange, since this part of the city has been inhabited since the antiquity. The style of an era: The restoration that started in 2004, brought-up the neo-classical character of its original architecture. Neo-classicism was the main trend in central Europe during the 1800's, when Athens became the capital city of new-born Greece, and the rich Athenians adopted at once the style of their new "foreign"King . Once the home of a wealthy Russian (the Czar's ambassador?), it was purchased by my grandfather, and ever since been the Family House. The fiscal crisis didn't help the completion of the refurbishment. So, even if the main entrance and stairway might frustrate you, you will very soon be rewarded by the place you will actually live in! A very spacious living-room with a very special wooden floor and roof, a cozy bedroom equipped with a double bed, a marble-covered bathroom, a kitchen and a hall is what the deal is about. You have access to the whole floor (84sq.m with a large living room, bedroom, kitchen, bathroom & entrance hall), and to the terrace. Equipment you can use: Filter&espresso coffee machine, Fridge, Kitchenette, Mini blender, Washing machine, Stereo, flatTV with VGA port, DVD player & DVDs, Books, Fans/stove. Since I am living in another city, I asked my dear friends to assist you with your staying (If we get lucky, we might meet each other, though). They are very kind and will surely rush to help you with anything you might need. Yet, have in mind that they don't live in the neighborhood...

The neighborhood
Everyday shopping and tourist attractions are close by, as well as the places that gave Psirri its reputation: traditional restaurants, bars, clubs and small raki coffee shops. Don't miss the opportunity to discover the spice market, just around the corner! Follow the scents. Although some would say that the street looks somehow "dodgy" and "abandoned", Most residents appreciate the quietness during the night; an advantage hard to find in the area. Yet (mostly during the summer) a bouzouki melody from the near-by tavernas might consist the opening theme for your sweet dreams. Getting around

The street is a Controlled parking zone (too expensive for a resident). Better get a parking place at the near-buy parking lots. Other things to note

If you are allergic to cats, beware! The terrace is an area allowed for them to use. Also, small semi-transparent lizards might appear on the terrace. Do not harm them: they are considered sacred, plus, they eat mosquitoes, and small insects. You can consume anything edible in the house.
