✨ONASSIS AiR FELLOWS HIGHLIGHTS | ODD 2026

🔵We couldn't be more excited to see our presenting the projects they developed during the residency at the Onassis Dance Days 2026: “FÁE” by Efthimios Moschopoulos and “(REST IN) BLUE” by Katerina Foti are two solo works that, through explosive corporeal vocabulary and a contemporary neopaganism, are situated within the field of autoethnography.

🌙Also, the central performance of this year’s festival is an international co-production by Onassis Stegi, “NÔT” by the Marlene Monteiro Freitas from Portugal, which opened the Avignon Festival in 2025, while our 2025/26 Fellow Efi Gousi, presents her video installation “Tectonic Riders” at Onassis Stegi’s –1 Black Box.

The ODD contemporary dance festival focuses this year on the ‘familiar and the unfamiliar,’ exploring notions of origin, family, the known and the unknown, as well as chosen kinship. How is choreographic identity shaped through ties of blood, memory, or imagination? What new forms of ‘kinship’ emerge in a world of fluid connections? Can choreography become a meeting ground for relatives by blood, by choice, or by surprise?

📽 SOPHIE ATAYA: WHO WE ARE

Meet Sophie, participating Fellow of for 2025/26.

Sophie Ataya is a German-Palestinian writer, director, and film curator based in Berlin. Before shifting to filmmaking, Sophie worked in cultural production with international organizations in Lebanon and Palestine. Through storytelling, she seeks to amplify underrepresented narratives, using film as a tool for empowerment and anti-colonial practice.
“Who We Are” (WT) is a feature-length documentary exploring the erasure of Palestinian identity in Germany. Through a deeply personal lens, it follows the director’s journey to reclaim her Palestinian heritage after growing up in an East German village where any connection to it was met with silence—from family, the community, and, by extension, the German state.

💦ALEXANDRA NIAKA: THE RIVER WHERE YOU SET YOUR FOOT JUST NOW IS GONE ✨

Meet Alexandra, participating Fellow of for 2025/26 through the AiR/ONX Fellowship.

Alexandra Niaka is an interactive media artist who expresses herself through interactive installations, immersive technologies, and written text. “The river where you set your foot just now is gone” is an immersive, real-time generated installation with its core lying in the history of water, not only as a force of creation but also as a vessel of collective memory and catastrophe. Rooted in a Thessalian folklore myth, in which the dead once a year emerge around areas of water to share stories from the past, present, and future, the artwork reveals how rivers, floods, and the cyclical presence of water have shaped both the cultural imagination and the lived realities of Thessaly.

🦩EFI GOUSI: SPEAK, LITTLE WINGS 🪶

Meet Efi, participating Fellow of for 2025/26.

Efi Gousi is a Greek multidisciplinary artist based in Paris, working across photography, film, and stage direction. In the framework of the Onassis AiR Fellowship Gousi will work on the script of a film that is part of the trilogy she initiated with “Tectonic Riders,” her first Art Film, which was presented at Plásmata in May of 2025. The second film poses a new and urgent question: What do we save in a catastrophe? Similar to part one, and retaining common narrative techniques, “Speak, Little Wings” adopts a poetic and metaphysical approach, centering on the climate crisis, female identity, and the silent forms of resistance that emerge when everything seems to be lost.
