Luxury Interior Brands: How To Master Timeless Rooms by Bonis Pantelis 31/03/2026

✦ What makes a room feel truly personal?
It's not the colour on the walls. It's not the art. It's the object in the corner that earns your attention before you even sit down.

In our latest article, we explore why the best luxury interior brands no longer sell furniture — they sell a material argument. Tactile surfaces. Visible craftsmanship. Construction logic you can read with your hands.

And what that means for designers, buyers, and anyone who believes that how something is made is as important as how it looks.

Furniture Design Copyright: Bold New EU Standards by Bonis Pantelis 23/03/2026

On 4 December 2025, the Court of Justice of the EU delivered a landmark ruling. The Mio/Konektra judgment set bold new standards for furniture design copyright across Europe. And every designer, manufacturer, and retailer needs to understand what changed.

Three things the ruling confirms:
✅ Copyright and design rights work side by side — you can hold both at once.
✅ Originality lives in the finished object, not in your private intentions.
✅ Your visible creative choices are now your strongest legal asset.

Document your process. Protect your work. Know your rights.

Forma Design Fair Madrid: How To Spot Stunning Craft by Bonis Pantelis 23/03/2026

Madrid finally has its design fair — and it arrived with something to say. 🇪🇸

Forma Design Fair Madrid made its debut in March 2026 at Matadero Madrid. From Arturo Álvarez's shadow-as-material lighting to La Ebanistería's cabinet reveal that stopped a crowd in its tracks, this fair proved one thing clearly: Spain has been doing collectable design for generations. It just never called it that.

Founder Álvaro Matías promised "the most beautiful design shop in Spain." He delivered. And with the Madrid Design Festival as its backdrop, Forma arrived with a cultural infrastructure most debut fairs can only dream of.

Objects speak across centuries — but only when someone places them well. This fair placed them brilliantly.

Cliff Hotel Greece: How To Vanish Into the Cliffs by Bonis Pantelis 22/03/2026

🪨 A cliff hotel in Greece that hides inside the rock — not on it.

Olen resort on the island of Syros does something almost no Greek hotel dares to do: it disappears into the landscape. Designed by ATENO, this seven-suite project carves into the cliffside rather than standing on it. The result is architecture that feels like it was always there.

As a product designer and design critic, I find the logic here razor-sharp. Three zones — The Plane, The Line, The Point — descend the cliff in sequence. Each one gives more privacy. Each one returns more of the view to the sea.

And the material choices follow that same discipline: warm renders above, raw exposed stone at the base. The architecture, in other words, confesses what it is made of.

I wrote a full design critique of this project — the spatial reasoning, the material decisions, and what this cliff hotel tells us about where hospitality design is heading.

What do you think — does Greek architecture do enough to work with the landscape rather than against it? Drop your thoughts below. 👇

Sotiris Lazou: How to Design a Timeless Lamp by Bonis Pantelis 21/03/2026

What happens when a designer refuses to add anything that doesn't belong?

You get LucerA.

Athens designer Sotiris Lazou teamed up with Urbi et Orbi — the Greek concrete design studio — to create a rechargeable table lamp made of terrazzo and resin. Handmade. Cast in three parts. Polished by hand. And powered by a battery that gives you eight hours of warm, cord-free light.

In 2022, The Chicago Athenaeum International Museum awarded it a Good Design Award — one of the oldest design prizes on earth.

The reason it works is simple: every material earns its place. Concrete gives permanence. Resin lets the light through. The battery sets it free.

That is the Enzo Mari school of thought. And Lazou carries it forward better than most.

Studio GGSV: How To Master the Art of Paris Salons by Bonis Pantelis 20/03/2026

Three rooms. Two centuries of craft. One question that changed everything.

What if a room wasn't just furnished — but felt like it was thinking?

That's what Studio GGSV set out to answer when Manufactures Nationales gave them the most ambitious brief of the Art Deco centenary: reimagine the ensemblier for 2025.
The result is Les Salons de l'imaginaire — a 200m² installation at the historic Manufacture des Gobelins in Paris. Three rooms. Each one a different argument about how furniture, architecture, and décor can become a single voice.

↳ The Reception Salon, where a monumental library shifts between pattern and structure depending on where you stand.
↳ The Conversation Salon, where French salon culture meets Middle Eastern majlis hospitality around one extraordinary sofa.
↳ The Reading Salon, where romantic landscapes swallow the architecture whole — walls, floor, ceiling, all of it.

Furthermore, every piece of furniture was built from scratch. Moreover, every piece assembles without a single screw. That's not a styling decision. That's a philosophy.

Sofia Lekka Angelopoulou — Editor-in-Chief at Designboom — covered the project with the kind of precision it deserves. She visited in person, spoke directly with the designers, and wrote a piece that makes you feel the rooms rather than just see them.

I wrote about it — the craft, the history, the furniture logic, and what it all means for how we think about interiors today.

Yamaha Sound Concepts: New Stunning Forms Born of Sound by Bonis Pantelis 18/02/2026

There are objects that simply exist in a room. And then there are objects that *inhabit* it. ✨

Yamaha's Design Laboratory just released four speaker concepts — Sail, Butterfly, Horn, and Cristal — and they are unlike anything I have seen in audio design. These are not speakers. They are sculptures that happen to produce sound.

A diaphragm suspended like a sail between tensioned strings. Two drivers positioned back-to-back, open at the crown, trusting sound to find its own way. A horn-shaped enclosure that makes music appear to emerge from thin air. A crystalline form so restrained it feels like silence made visible.

I wrote a full piece on what makes these Yamaha Sound Concepts so extraordinary — and why they connect deeply to the way I think about sculptural furniture and product design. Form, tension, restraint, and the precise moment when engineering stops and poetry begins.

The New Lignin 3D Printing That Transforms Design by Bonis Pantelis 17/02/2026

🌳 The Future of Sustainable Design Just Got Real 🌳

Imagine holding a beautifully crafted wooden component—warm to the touch, intricate in design—knowing you can melt it down tomorrow and print something completely new. No waste. No guilt. Just endless creative possibilities.
That's exactly what German researchers just made possible with lignin 3D printing.

This breakthrough transforms wood industry WASTE into fully recyclable 3D printing ink that looks, feels, and performs like real wood. The best part? You can reprint it endlessly without losing quality.

🔄 Why This Changes Everything:
✅ Print impossible geometries that traditional woodworking can't achieve
✅ Create furniture with variable density zones for perfect comfort
✅ Customize color, texture, and stiffness in a single print session
✅ True circular economy—melt it down and start fresh

For designers, makers, and sustainability advocates, this is the material we've been waiting for. It doesn't force us to choose between beautiful design and environmental responsibility. The revolution smells like sawdust... even though no trees were harmed. 🌲♻️
