Ο Δημήτρης Κονταράτος είναι απόφοιτος της Σχολής Τεχνολογίας Τροφίμων του ΤΕΙ Θεσσαλονίκης, έχει μεγάλη εμπειρία στα συστήματα ποιότητας και συστήματα διαχείρισης ασφάλειας τροφίμων. Είναι εκπαιδευτής σε θέματα υγιεινής και ασφάλειας τροφίμων με πλούσιο εκπαιδευτικό επαγγελματικό έργο.
Αποφοιτώντας από το δημόσιο ΙΕΚ μαγειρικής Τέχνης εργάστηκε στη Γερμανία (Φρανκφούρτη και Μόναχο) στη γνωστή εταιρία Kofler & Kompanie - Event Catering και στις δημοφιλείς εκδηλώσεις The Pret A Diner ‘The Tree House’ και Pret A Diner ‘The Director’s Cut’ με τους chefs Nuno Mendes, Juan Amador, Matthias Schmidt, Tim Raue και Ollysan Oliver.

Μεγάλος γαστρονομικός σταθμός η εργασία στο test Kitchen του NOMA στην Κοπεγχάγη με Chef το Rene Redzepi.

Εμπνευστής της δημιουργικής Ομάδας “Dirty Dishes” και ιδρυτής του εκπαιδευτικού και ερευνητικού στούντιο για τη γαστρονομία και το bar GIAFKA (ΓΙΑΦΚΑ). Έχοντας κύρια σκέψη ότι η μαγειρική είναι τεχνολογία στοχεύει στη συνεχή εξέλιξη του χώρου και συνεργάζεται με ανθρώπους της γαστρονομίας και του μπαρ για νέες τάσεις και νέα υλικά με επαγγελματίες εντός αλλά και εκτός Ελλάδας.

Εργάστηκε ως Chef από το 2013 έως 2016 στην Gastropub "The Black Adder pub".

Έχει αναλάβει από το 2016-2018 την υποστήριξη στο εστιατόριο Rattan cuizine & cocktail και επιστημονικός και τεχνολογικός συνεργάτης του Baba Au Rum (στα 50 καλύτερα κοκτέιλ μπαρ του κόσμου).

Το 2018 στα πλαίσια του τμήματος Gourmet της ΑΝΚΟ κυκλοφορεί το πρώτου του βιβλίο με τίτλο THE GASTROBOOK το οποίο αποτελεί το εγχειρίδιο εκαπίδευσης και το 2019 εκδίδει δεύτερο βιβλίο με τίτλο "Η Σχετικότητα θ/t μέσα σε μία σακούλα", σημαντικό βοήθημα μαγειρέματος Sous Vide.

Απο το 2020 εργάζεται ως Executive Chef στο Lindos Blu Luxury Suites, το 2017-2019 ήταν Chef στο ξενοδοχείο Esperos Blue Village & Spa, και από το 2015 ως εκπαιδευτικός στην ΑΝΚΟ Ρόδου, διδάσκοντας μαθήματα θεωρητικής και εργαστηριακής κατεύθυνσης στο ΙΙΕΚ και στο ταχύρυθμο τμήμα του Gourmet.
