The Bioko Drill program is focused primarily on research and outreach of the endangered drill monkey (Mandrillus leucophaeus poensis). These animals are in critical danger of extinction due to the increasing bush meat trade in West Africa.

Watch a monitor lizard predate a sea turtle nest on remote beaches of Bioko Island! Footage captured from camera traps shows that lizards are regularly predating turtle nests throughout their nesting season. On occasion, drill monkeys visited nests that were already dug up by lizards but were never found to actually dig the nest up themselves.
This research was presented at the International Sea Turtle Symposium this year in Cartagena, Columbia. :)
