GPF DISMISSES OFFICER FOR IMPERSONATION AND UNAUTHORIZED WITHDRAWALS AT CREDIT UNION Date: November 14, 2025 The Gambia Police Force has concluded investigations into an incident involving PC 9760 Sanna Mballow, who attempted to make an unauthorized withdrawal at the Brikama Police Cooperative Credit Union. The investigation established that PC Mballow presented himself under the identity of another Credit Union member with the intention of fraudulently accessing the individual’s account. His actions were detected by staff, and he was immediately apprehended and handed over to the Police. Further inquiries linked this incident to several previous unauthorized withdrawals from members’ accounts. His conduct was found to be a serious contravention of the Police Disciplinary Code as provided for under the Police Act, Cap 18, Vol. IV. Subsequently, the Police initiated internal disciplinary action to address the various breaches committed. PC 9760 Sanna Mballow was ultimately dismissed from the Force with immediate effect. Following a thorough review, he was found guilty of impersonation, fraudulent conduct, and gross professional misconduct. As a result, the Inspector General of Police, Seedy Mukhtar Touray, has dismissed him from The Gambia Police Force with immediate effect. The GPF emphasizes that this was an isolated act by an individual officer and does not reflect the values, ethics, or professionalism of the institution. The Force remains committed to upholding discipline within its ranks and will take decisive action against any officer found wanting, without fear or favour. The Gambia Police Force assures the public of its commitment to integrity, accountability, and the highest standards of service to the nation.
