Walking around Qaqortoq is like going on a super fun scavenger hunt! Back in the 1990s, this cool artist from Greenland named Aka Hoegh hired 18 Norse artists to carve awesome designs into rocks all around town. They called it the "Stone and Man" project, and let me tell you, it's a total delight!

Picture this: you're strolling down the street, minding your own business, when suddenly you spot a handprint or a face carved into a rock. And wait, there's even fish and whales too! Sometimes you pass by these carvings without even realizing they're there, like "Eric the Red" chillin' in red basalt right near the tendering dock.

Now, they do have a map with all the sculptures marked on it, but honestly, it kinda takes away the fun. Why follow a map when you can just wander around and see how many carvings you can find on your own? Besides, the map only shows buildings, no streets, so it's a bit crazy trying to locate stuff with it.

So, are you up for the challenge? Get ready to explore Qaqortoq like a scavenger pro and see how many of these amazing rock carvings you can collect! It's gonna be a wild adventure, and trust me, the surprises waiting for you around each corner are totally worth it!🇬🇱👏🏻

📍Kullorsuaq is a village located in northwest Greenland. It is situated on the western coast of the Upernavik Archipelago, near the Davis Strait
✨Kullorsuaq is known for its beautiful Arctic scenery, with icebergs and fjords surrounding the area.
🇬🇱 “Kullorsuaq” translates to “Big Thumb” in English. The name is believed to have been derived from the shape of a nearby mountain that resembles a large thumb (from the village view). The local Inuit population gave the village this name based on their observations of the natural landscape. It’s common for Greenlandic place names to have descriptive or symbolic meanings based on the surrounding geography or cultural significance.
