Ghana Police Service personnel do not understand when people insult and verbally abuse them. I am currently sitting and a gridlocked traffic at Dawhenya Junction. Apparently a big truck has broken down on the Motorway Extension with a damaged gear box or something.

Two Police pickups coming from Pram pram or Ada full of Police personnel came to meet the traffic. They all got down and managed the traffic completely clearing one lane. Instead of managing the entire situation, as soon as their cars were able to pass, they all run straight into the pickups and left every body else still in a gridlock.

All the people in all the cars applauded the police personnel when they started clearing the mess. After they left, all the praises turned to insults. Now civilians have to do their own negotiations to clear the way. Is that why we use our tax money to recruit people, put them in uniform and train them?

Ghana Police Service, recruited to serve and protect... wherein lies your service if you can't even be selfless enough to carry out your own duty.

is not only for big names.

I am in Tamale but I need a multi socket so I walk out of the hotel to find one to buy.

I walk into Asset Investment Enterprise to check. Faaizu Wumpini, in the photo, does not have the kind I need but informs me he is on his way to town to restock so he can find the kind I want. So I tell him I will come back because I am in the hotel around the corner. His response is "oh don't worry, I will bring it to you there".

True to his words, he does bring it to me at the hotel and at and he is apologising profusely for any inconvenience caused me.

This, for me, is that deserves commendation.

Why Ghanaian eateries do not last past one year in existence.

So I walked into an eatery, a supposed restaurant and Sat at a table. The waitress walks over and looks at me like 'What can I get for you'. So I ask for a menu. She walks away she's not sure what a menu is. After rummaging behind the counter for a while, she comes back with a menu. She opens to the 'Starters' page and gives it to me. Then she returns to the customer side of the counter and stands with her back to me.

After checking what's in the menu, I deceased to play safe and chose banku and tilapia. Because I didn't want to shout I had to do a lot of signalling to get the attention of the waitress. She comes for my order and tells me, in Twi, to change tables cost the table I am sitting at 'shakes' i.e. the table is wobbly. I pretend to not speak twi so she shakes the table to demonstrate. I respond in English that if my food won't spill onto the ground then it's cool.

After a long while the food arrives. One tilapia covered in cucumber and significantly skinny onion rings, two balls of banku, two plastic cups of dhoti and ground pepper have been dandily arranged on one square plate. I look at the plate and ask the waitress for a saucer. She looks at me like she wants to ask what for. I ignore the look and demonstrate what I mean by a saucer. She brings the saucer and I tell her that I think they need to change their presentation style because there is no space on the plate to pour out the pepper. She mumbled an agreement and walked back to the counter. I could hear her speaking to the other girls behind the counter about me and my demands.

When I started eating then I realized the
seriousness of the wobblyness of the table. I proceeded to carry my food to the next table one plate at a time and the waitress stood back and watched me do it.
Fastforward to when I finish eating. I got up and went back to the first table because the water and soap For washing my hand were still at that table. When I start washing my hand then the waitress came to collect the plates from the other table.

After washing I take out my money and give it to her. She brought my change short by 3ghc. She looks at me like 'do you have a problem'. I asked the cost of the food and she responds that it is 15ghc. I tell her the menu says 12ghc. Guess her response... It says 15 so I ask her to go and check so she goes back to the counter and picks up the menu. As she is flipping through I walked over to the counter and ask what the menu says. She turned to me to tell me the menu is wrong. Can you believe that? So I look at the people behind the counter and choose the one who looks like a supervisor and address her. I tell her I think they need to improve on their service. I point out the wobbly table, broken chairs to her and all she could tell me was 'that is why the waitress told you when you sat down'. When I tell her that if the table is broken it should not be there, her response is 'if we remove the table that side will be too this thing'. I guess she meant bare. When I come to the issue of the price on the menu needing to be changed, she tells me that the menu price has been wrong since they opened the place. Like that is supossed to make me happy.

If you have a problem with a company and do not receive the appropriate help and support from its customer service department, it may be time to look for help elsewhere. While this should be considered a last resort, it is possible to report to outside sources if a company has been rude, neglectful or simply failed to provide you with the appropriate level of customer service

Contact the Better Business Bureau if the problem you had with bad customer service resulted in you losing money or getting cheated regarding a service or product (see Resources below)

Respect the customer!!!

22/05/2012

Respect your customers, does it matter if a fifteen year old boy walked into your institution or shop to make enquires?, does it matter if the man who walked in had a dirty shirt and a slipper on? They were both there for the services you are rendering so quit been rude and judgemental.
