TEMA METRO TO HOST GREATER ACCRA REGIONAL INDEPENDENCE DAY CELEBRATIONS

The Greater Accra Regional Minister, Honourable Henry Quartey, announced that the Tema Metropolis in Ghana will host the 66th Greater Accra Regional Independence Day Celebrations on March 6, 2023. This marks the first time Tema will host the event, and the decision was made to rotate the celebration among the various assemblies.
A stakeholder meeting was held at the Tema Metropolitan Assembly (TMA) on February 23, where Honourable Quartey outlined series of programs to be undertaken as part of the initiative. These include a football tournament at Tema New Town Park, health screening and NHIS registration, inter-MMDA s quiz for JHS, anniversary indoor games, and boxing bouts.
In addition, there will be a clean-up exercise where residents would be expected to clean their immediate frontages and up to the middle of the streets. Refusal to join in the exercise will be sanctioned in accordance with byelaws. Honourable Quartey called for the support of all stakeholders to ensure the success of the event and emphasized that the Operations team is not going to clean people's frontages.
The event is set to be massive, and the clean-up exercise will commence in Tema from March 2 to March 4, 2023. The initiative aims to promote cleanliness and improve the living conditions of residents in the area.
