An 18-year-old male present to the hospital with a painful, swollen skin lesion containing pus. A specimen is collected from the lesion and sent to the microbiology laboratory for culture.
After incubation, the culture plate shows numerous smooth, round, yellowish/golden colonies, as seen in the image. The organism is suspected to be a Gram-positive bacterium commonly found on the skin and mucous membranes and capable of causing both superficial and invasive infections.
The laboratory proceeds with Gram staining, colony morphology assessment, and appropriate biochemical tests to establish the identity of the organism.
👉 Based on the clinical presentation and the colony characteristics shown, what bacterium is most likely responsible for this infection?♥️🔬♥️
