A Happy New Year to you!!

KPMG has published the Ghana Banking Industry Customer Experience (BICX) Survey 2022 report.

This is the third edition of the survey and was conducted between May and August 2022. The publication includes insights from the retail segment, customer experience practitioners, SMEs and corporate clients across the 23 banks in Ghana.

Insights gained from the survey were across the following key themes: Digital and its effect, Data, Leadership, Culture and Experience. Recommendations from the report include designing a robust customer experience strategy, using relevant metrics, developing talent and innovation, building an integrated enterprise as well as establishing strategic alliances and ecosystems to enhance customer trust, loyalty and advocacy.

The Globerunner Tournament is an annual National and Global internal competition where KPMG staff have the opportunity to prove how much they know about the firm’s service offerings online. This year, KPMG Ghana launched the Mini Globerunner for new staff that were unable to participate in the main tournament earlier in the year.

On 7 December 2022, The KPMG Mini Globerunner Awards Ceremony was held for the Top Ten Finalists (Idriss Mawuli A. Zuberu , Jonathan Adjei, Mary Damte, Victoria Kwarteng, Richmond Adatsi, Anastasia Asare, Henry Andorful, Memunatu Muttah, Benjamin Asante-Sarfo, Elsie Amonuah-Felbah) and their Ambassadors. The ceremony included a celebratory lunch, sharing of certificates and prizes and ended with a cake cutting ceremony.

Special congratulations to Idriss Abiodun Mawuli Zuberu for placing first in the Mini Globerunner and Justine Agbeyakah for being the ultimate coach and Globerunner Ambassador! We look forward to more Globerunner initiatives in the near future!

On 29 November 2022, we held our 2023 Budget Forum themed “Restoring and Sustaining Macroeconomic Stability and Resilience through Inclusive Growth and Value Addition”. The aim of the conference was to discuss the 2023 budget and share ideas and measures that can improve the ex*****on of the proposed measures in 2023 budget. 
 
The session included a panel discussion which deliberated on a number of topics, such as alternatives government can use to reduce inflation, understanding the implications of the ‘Nkabom budget’ on the operations of businesses and the way forward for Ghana amongst other topics. 
 
Overall, it was a very useful discussion with a number of suggestions, insights and ideas shared, which we hope to see implemented in the near future as the Government continues with negotiations on an IMF package.

We had guest speakers who spoke on prostate cancer – the symptoms, risks and how to reduce the risk of it as well as the importance of mentoring young males and inspiring men to build their social connections for wellbeing. The session ended with gifts for all men and a happy hour on the rooftop. We look forward to many other sessions and celebrations!

Andy Akoto (KPMG Partner) spoke on the topic: “A glimpse into financial inclusion: The State at play” at the Connected Banking Summit and explained that financial literacy is an important tool for financial inclusion as an individual requires a basic understanding of their finances in order to optimally reap the benefits of financial inclusion.

On day one, Philip Twum, (KPMG Manager), was on a panel which discussed ‘Driving digital access to bolster the future of financial inclusion’. During this plenary, Philip stated that digital financial services would need to be fiercely competitive in the future as a high level of competitiveness will drive down costs, create more options for users/customers and ultimately lead to affordable financial services.

For the second consecutive year, KPMG Private Enterprise hosted the finalist event for the Global Tech Innovator competition where UK’s HiiROC was crowned as this year’s winner. 
 
HiiROC developed an amazing system to produce low-cost, zero-emission hydrogen, which produces zero greenhouse gases when burnt and contains 3X the energy of gasoline.
 
Congratulations to HiiROC for being the Ultimate Tech Titan!!! We would also like to congratulate all other participants (including Brainwek Education, Agro Innova Ltd and ShaQ Express) that took part in this competition, we hope to see you again next year!

The Chartered Institute of Bankers Ghana (CIB) held their 26th National Banking Summit yesterday. The program featured several prominent thought leaders including Andy Akoto (KPMG Advisory Partner) who deliberated on a panel on the topic ‘ESG and Sustainable Financing: Opportunities and Strategic Imperatives for Banks’. 

During the plenary Andy stated that organisations that are going to thrive cannot ignore ESG and added that we must interpret ESG to our own circumstances in Ghana and that if we are able to even get our governance (personal, corporate and national) right our systems and policies will work better, therefore bringing accountability to our people.
