Did you know that where a person issues an invoice in excess of the amount that should have been invoiced, the person is allowed input tax deduction for the excess in the tax period in which the transaction occurred.

Note: A prescribed credit note must be issued by the person making the supply to the recipient of the supply. Also, the recipient of the supply must be a taxable person before input claim can be made by the person making the supply.

The Institute of Chartered Accountants Ghana (ICAG) Accountants’ Week is an annual program organised for all members of the Institute and sponsored by KPMG Ghana as well as a number of other organisations.
This year’s May edition was held in Kumasi, under the auspices of the Asantehene His Royal Majesty Otumfuo Nana Osei Tutu II. The theme of the week was: ‘Business Continuity and Sustainable Development: The Role of Technology’ and was attended by over 1,500 accountants from the private and public sectors of Ghana.
The KPMG team took part in The Conference registration, The Accountants’ Conference (where Mr Andy Akoto – KPMG Head of Advisory, spoke on ‘Digitalising Ghana’s Economy: The Journey So Far’) The Boogie Night and The Dinner and Awards Night.

Did you know that companies that employ fresh graduates from recognized tertiary institutions in Ghana are entitled to additional tax deduction of a percentage of the salaries and wages paid to these graduate employees in determining the chargeable income for a year of assessment.

Note: "fresh graduate" means a person who has graduated from a tertiary institution for the first time,

whether or not that person was previously employed.
