On February 13, 2025, CodeHive Club successfully hosted the Kasoa CodeHive STEM Connect event at Odukpongkpehe Basic A School, Kasoa. Under the theme "Empowering the Next Generation Through Technology," the event brought together students, educators, and stakeholders to inspire young minds with essential STEM skills.
Esteemed speakers delivered insightful messages on STEM education’s role in shaping the future. Rev. Eric Ampofo, TVET Coordinator of GES, Awutu Senya East Municipality, emphasized the importance of Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) in preparing students for the evolving job market. Mr. Isaac Ofori-Quaison, STEM Coordinator of GES, highlighted STEM’s impact on national development and encouraged students to choose STEM schools for further education. Dr. Jenephar Essel, Girl Child Officer of GES, sent a representative who stressed the need for gender inclusivity in STEM fields.
A key highlight was the interactive, hands-on sessions designed to provide students with practical exposure to technology. In collaboration with Stemite, Codehive Club engaged students in coding with and programming. These activities enhanced problem-solving, logical thinking, and creativity through technology.
Notably, 14 students with hearing impairments actively participated in training sessions, gaining foundational knowledge in coding and robotics. This underscored the importance of inclusive STEM education.
Codehive Club remains committed to bridging the digital divide by bringing digital skills to underserved schools and communities. Odukpongkpehe Basic School, which lacks a computer lab and digital resources, benefited greatly from the event. Through STEM Connect, students engaged in hands-on STEM education, reinforcing the need for technological skills in today’s world.
The event’s success was made possible through strong partnerships. Special appreciation goes to Stemite for their expertise and resources, and Firefly IO for providing robotics kits, enriching students’ learning experiences.
CodeHive STEM Connect was more than just an event—it was a step toward building a future where technology drives progress. By equipping students with the necessary knowledge and tools, we are shaping a generation ready to lead in the digital age.
We extend our gratitude to all speakers, partners, volunteers and participants for making this event a success. Special thanks to Odukpongkpehe Basic A School and its Headmistress Mrs. Doris Ankamah for their unwavering support. We look forward to future collaborations to empower young minds through STEM.
