🐔 STARTING A POULTRY FARM (Day 6)
Most poultry diseases don’t just appear…
They come from poor hygiene.
✔ Change water DAILY
✔ Clean feeders & drinkers regularly
✔ Remove wet litter immediately
Dirty water = sick birds
Clean environment = healthy profit

🐔 STARTING A POULTRY FARM (Day 5)
Feed = your biggest cost.
If you get feeding wrong, you lose money.
👉 Broilers (per bird):
• Starter: ~1 kg
• Finisher: ~4 kg
(Total ≈ 5 kg in 6–8 weeks)
👉 Layers:
• Starter + Grower (0–18 weeks)
• Layer mash (after point of lay)
Always give the RIGHT feed at the RIGHT stage.
Wrong feeding = poor growth & low egg production.

🐔 STARTING A POULTRY FARM (Day 4)
Your birds need a good home.
A proper poultry house should have:
✔ Good direction
Build your house east–west to reduce direct sunlight and heat on the birds.
✔ Ventilation
Allow fresh air in, but avoid strong direct winds.
✔ Rain protection
Roof must not leak + proper drainage to prevent water entering the coop.
In areas with heavy rainfall, use tarps or side curtains to protect birds from wind-driven rain.
✔ Dry floor
Wet litter = disease. Always keep the floor dry.
✔ Enough space
Avoid overcrowding to reduce stress and disease.
A good house = healthy birds + better profit.

Your success starts here: Day-old chicks.
Buying from a trusted hatchery is the foundation for a successful & productive flock. You can achieve this by enquiring and networking with other poultry farmers.
This practice will ensure you get healthy, well-bred chicks; to minimize early mortality and maximize profits.

📏 Recommended space per bird:
👉 Broilers:
• 1 – 1.5 sq ft per bird
• (0.09 – 0.14 m²)
👉 Layers:
• 1.5 – 2 sq ft per bird
• (0.14 – 0.19 m²)
