Europe has always been much more than a geographical area for fencing, Europe is the home of fencing
It is a community built on diversity, shared traditions and common values.
Every Member Federation brings its own history, culture and identity, yet we are united by the same commitment to respect, integrity, excellence and fair play.
The recent World Championships in Hong Kong once again demonstrated the remarkable strength of European fencing.
While those results make us proud, they are above all the outcome of decades of dedication by athletes, coaches, referees, volunteers and federations working together across our continent.
Success is never built by individuals alone, it is built by a community that shares knowledge, supports one another and believes that progress comes through collaboration.
As President of the European Fencing Confederation,
I believe our greatest responsibility is not only to celebrate success, but to preserve and strengthen the values that make European fencing unique, ensuring they continue to inspire future generations.

I warmly welcome today’s decision of the FIE Executive Committee to recognize the 2027 European Games in Istanbul as the European Championships 2027.
This is a strong step forward for our sport, enhancing visibility and unity across Europe. We look forward to an outstanding event in Istanbul.

One of the greatest strengths of European fencing is its community.
Behind every competition, every training session and every athlete’s journey, there are dedicated coaches, referees, volunteers, officials, parents and clubs working with passion and commitment.
They may not always be in the spotlight, but they are the foundation on which our sport continues to grow.
As President of the European Fencing Confederation, I would like to thank everyone who contributes every day to making our fencing community stronger, more united and ready for the future.

As another season comes to an end, summer offers a valuable opportunity to reflect on what makes our sport truly special. Beyond medals and results, fencing is about learning respect, discipline and resilience. These are values that accompany athletes throughout their lives, both on and off the piste.
This educational role is one of the greatest strengths of our sport and one of the reasons why fencing continues to inspire young people across Europe and around the world. Busy day around Paris — a quick stop at the Championnats de France U17 foil, then on to Saint-Maur for the women’s épée. Great matches in cadet foil and senior épée, with an impressive making a strong statement ahead of the European Championships. Great meeting with EVP President Caryl Oliver in Cognac to explore how we can support the sport together across all age groups. Fantastic atmosphere here, with so many teams competing for the European title!

Visiting Montenegro to finalize preparations for next year’s U23 Championship.
I had the pleasure of meeting with the President of the National Olympic Committee , Dušan Simonović, the General Director of the Sports Directorate , Zoran Jojić, and the Secretary for Sport of the City of Podgorica
, Darko Nikčević.

All stakeholders expressed a very positive attitude towards the Montenegrin candidacy and assured their full support. I am very optimistic about delivering a great event in Podgorica in 2027, which will further strengthen the young fencing federation under the dynamic leadership of Dejan Đurašković.

As President, I have always insisted on the importance of the clubs in our sport, because they are where our passion begins.
Whenever possible I take the time to visit them, as it's where the passion start.
This weekend was especially meaningful for me.
I had the great joy of opening the refurbished fencing hall of my home club, . The photos show just how long the road has been over 30 years to reach this beautiful modern salle.
