Vardzia is a cave monastery site in Georgia that dates back to the 12th century and was built during the reign of King George III and his daughter King Tamar.
There is a legend about the name origin of this outstanding monument of medieval architecture. According to the legend, a long time ago, when Tamara was still a little girl she loved to play in this at that time unfinished cave town.
One day she was playing there with her uncle who soon lost the girl of his sight in that cave maze. And then Tamar loudly shouted: “Ak var dzia!” which is translated from Georgian as: “I am here, uncle!”. The last two words echoed around the cave complex, and they were heard by King George III. He ordered to call the complex just like that – “Vardzia”.
Vardzia is renowned for its intricate network of tunnels, rooms, and caves carved into the Erusheti Mountain. The site also features a church, a bell tower, a royal palace, and numerous dwellings that served as a defensive fortification against invaders. Vardzia is a significant historical and architectural marvel, attracting tourists and pilgrims from around the world.
This cave complex is a UNESCO World Heritage Site, showcasing the rich history and architectural heritage of Georgia.

The Gabriadze theatre is a real fairytale land for adults and children. Though modest in size, The Marionette Theatre is among the world’s preeminent cultural institutions. Presenting mature puppet performances full of depth and meaning, it has gained the respect and recognition of international audiences and critics alike.
Theatre was founded in 1981 by the Georgian noted artist, writer, and director Rezo Gabriadze whose awards include Commander of the Order of Arts and Letters of the French Republic – France’s highest recognition for cultural achievements.)
The Gabriadze Theatre stands in the heart of Tbilisi’s historic Old Town. The beautiful building of the unique marionette theatre was designed by Gabriadze himself. And there is an inscription in gold on the building: “Extra Cepam Nihil Cogito Nos Lacrimare” (“Let our tears come only when cutting onions”).

Shardeni is a very famous street located in the central part of old Tbilisi and can be best described as a street that’s always alive.
Originally a street known as the "Dark Row" due to its covered roof. And after the reconstruction in XIXc. the street was named Shardeni, in honor of the French traveler Jean Chardin, who traveled to Georgia in the 17th century, specifically Tbilisi, and left his description of the city.
On the street there are a lot of cafes with terraces, which occupy almost the entire area of the street. By its appearance, Shardeni resembles a small Parisian region, in honor of the writer, whose name it has, of course.
The street is decorated with vintage objects, architecture lovers should pay attention to the interesting facades of houses.
Today, Shardeni Street is a haven for art enthusiasts and culture seekers. The street is lined with art galleries, salons showcasing vitreous enamel and other handmade items. It's the perfect place to immerse yourself in the works of contemporary Georgian artists, discover unique and original pieces, and enjoy live music performances.

Sculpture "Apple of Love" by great Georgian artist Zurab Tsereteli.
The building is 9 meters high and it comprises 145 sculptures both inside and out! You can go inside the apple, but only if you are over 18 years old 🙂
Inside, the walls of the apple are covered with bronze sculptural scenes from myths of different peoples of the world on the theme of the origin of life. From them one can trace the history of human passions from the Fall and the transition of men and women from a state of innocent submission to God to a state of guilty disobedience.
Some visitors call this artwork the K**a Sutra because the eroticism of the bas-reliefs is reminiscent of the images of love in Indian temples. But the description of the sculpture explains that eroticism “should not be misleading.”
The scenes are related to the general concept of the emergence and development of life in ascending order: from origin to spiritual peaks ✨
This impressive and unusual artwork located in the courtyard of the Museum of Modern Art đźŽ
