ASL works
At ASL works we deal with furniture renovation and remodeling. We give new life to your furniture.
Restoring doors is definitely not our favourite job, but it is often a necessary one.
Is it easy? No.
Is it pleasant? Definitely not.
Is it cheap? No again.
Can you buy a new MDF door for the same price as a restoration? Absolutely.
But if you choose restoration instead, what you get is a door made of real wood — not wood chips glued together and pressed into shape. You get something solid, durable, and beautiful. A door that can last for decades instead of ending up in the landfill after a few years.
Restoration is not just about saving an old door. It is an investment in quality craftsmanship, natural materials, and sustainability. It is a conscious choice to preserve what is already here rather than replace it with something disposable.
Some things are worth keeping.
Monday is the only working day of our 4-day pop-up shop — so if you are an interior designer, decorator, or currently working on a renovation project, this might be the perfect moment to stop by during your working hours. Unique vintage pieces, restored furniture, and plenty of inspiration are waiting at the workshop today.

If I could give this project a name, it would be “Perfect Couple.”
A beautiful, elegant, sturdy antique chair finally found its other half — a gorgeous 19th-century Khevsurian kilim full of character, charm, and history.
Some pairings simply feel meant to be.
And so they lived happily ever after.

This *taxta* was living a quiet, rather forgotten life in a Vake apartment. It was neither beautiful nor comfortable. The opening mechanism had been broken for years, the upholstery looked tired and very much from the grey Soviet era… In short, it was simply not a piece anyone was excited about.
While we were not able to repair or replace the mechanism, we decided to take care of everything else. First, we added proper springs to make it comfortable to sit and rest. Then we chose a vibrant fabric with a pattern inspired by traditional Georgian motifs. And finally, we added powder coated side supports and round pillows — *mutaka* — to give the piece a bit of character and style.
What used to be a sad and overlooked piece of furniture is now a comfortable, lively daybed — ready for a much better second chapter.

Another chair rescued from the neighborhood after spending far too much time under rain, snow, and harsh sun.
Naturally, after such treatment it needed a lot of care and attention to come back to life. But thanks to its solid original construction, it was possible to restore it.
To highlight its beautiful curves and strong structure, we chose a luxurious fabric from the Linwood Odyssey Velvet collection.
Take it home before someone else does — I guarantee this chair has a very long life ahead of it.

This week, every day until Friday, I’ll be sharing one piece that will be featured at our pop-up shop. Have a look — you might spot something that fits perfectly into your interior even before the shop pops up.
Some furniture pieces need a “curing period.”
I find them, bring them to the workshop, and at first I do not really know what their final look should be. I usually understand what they need in terms of restoration, but the color, fabric, or finish are not always immediately clear.
So they wait quietly in a corner of the workshop until, one day, something finally clicks.
For these armchairs, it was the fabric.
I saw it in my favorite fabric shop and immediately fell in love. The pattern, the colors, and the texture are simply gorgeous — and they work beautifully with the clean lines of the armchairs

These two armchairs were sitting at our neighbor’s place — ugly, broken and pretty much useless. She decided to get rid of them and, as they say, one person’s trash is another person’s treasure — so I grabbed them.
They were sold before we even had a chance to take proper photos.
The client asked to make the wood darker, and of course we did. So if you like one of our pieces but the wood color is not quite right for your interior, it can be changed.
