🟠 One of Batumi’s most remarkable historic landmarks, the Cathedral of the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary, has a truly unique story. Built in 1903 as a Catholic church, its striking Gothic architecture remains one of the city’s most recognizable symbols.

During the Soviet era, the building lost its religious function and was repurposed for various uses - at one point, it even operated as a laboratory. Later, the cathedral was transferred to the Orthodox Church and once again became an important spiritual center for the city.
