It was great working with on the cover design of her tenth poetry collection 'Wum Med, Wum Growed.'

"This warm, heartfelt collection well delight lovers of the Black Country and its wonderful dialect." Liz Berry.

You can find out more about this collection and her other wonderful work at her website www.wastiesspace.co.uk

It's been great to work with Sal Tonge on the redesign of her website
https://www.saltonge.co.uk/

Sal is a wonderful musician and stories practitioner doing some incredible breakthrough work in numerous educational and healthcare settings.

Her professional website has been developed as part of a bigger Arts Council England funded 'Developing Your Creative Practice' project.

We started by auditing Sal's existing site, then we did some 'best practice' research across other sites in a similar market. We then developed some relevant 'brand new' branding (note the cute stringed instrument 'g'!) and then constructed a site that fits the original brief and delivered some training in making basic site self amends.

We also looked at Sal's branding across Google, You Tube, Facebook and email to make sure it is consistent and recognisable.

It was lovely to get to the launch of 'Do You Want Rhymes With That?' this week, the new poetry pamphlet I designed for Colin Wells.
This collection is full of wit and canny and candid observations of everyday life. Highly recommend if you are able to catch Colin at an event near you.

Pictured are Nick Pearson (whose book I also previously designed), Paul Francis, myself and Colin.

It was a lovely evening with 20 open mic speakers, reading their own work at the fab Gratitude Cafe

Thank you Emma Purshouse for recommending my design services 🙏🏻

A blast from my past!

I was in a band in the 90s called LIFT which formed around the time I was graduating from a conceptual graphic design degree course at University of Wolverhampton

The artwork of one of our albums features sculptures I'd made as part of my course.

See the picture captions for more details.

Renewed interest in our music has prompted me to research and recreate artwork I originally created almost 30 years ago 😊

Happy Easter Sunday!
Here is a watercolor sketch I made in preparation for an art session with young people attending scheme this week.

I've loved working on this new branding for the band Ridgeometry

Their music is beautiful and the band began life in 1975 after a chance meeting of fellow students Heather and Andy at Birmingham University.

In the 1980s, they started recording their songs on cassette tape. As technology progressed, they used reel-to-reel tape, DAT (Digital Audio Tape), hard disk and finally computer software. Then in 2022, 47 years into their songwriting partnership, they released their debut album, Voice on the Radio, using many of the original vocal recordings.

They plan to release their second album in 2026.

You can hear their brilliant debut album here: https://ridgeometry.bandcamp.com/album/voice-on-the-radio

We're loving the new online proofing method from our print provider! You get to see the item as it would be in 'real life'.

Here's another throwback to my Christmas themed artworks.

This is a pencil montage of scenes from the 1970 movie 'Scrooge'.

The film is based on the novella 'A Christmas Carol' by Charles Dickens which recounts the story of Ebenezer Scrooge, an elderly miser who is visited by the ghost of his former business partner Jacob Marley and the spirits of Christmas Past, Present and Yet to Come. In the process, Scrooge is transformed into a kinder, gentler man.

The film stars Albert Finney, Kenneth More, Alec Guinness, Edith Evans and Anton Rodgers and the songs were written by Leslie Bricusse including: 🎶"Thank you very much."🎶

It's around this time of year that I do a throwback or two to Christmas themed artworks I've made.

Here's my pencil montage of scenes from the classic 1946 movie 'It's A Wonderful Life' starring Donna Reed and James Stewart in a fantasy drama about a man who has come to believe the world would have been better off had he never been born.

Over the course of the film, Clarence, an endearing middle-aged apprentice angel gains his wings ('every time a bell rings an angel gets it's wings') showing him an alternative life if that had been the case. The moral of the story being the world is a much better place with YOU in it.

Although the movie is regarded now as an inspirational Christmas classic, it was essentially a flop upon it's original release.
