The council will be marking this year’s Carers Week with a range of activities for unpaid carers and the people they look after.

Carers Week, which gets underway today (Monday), is an annual campaign to raise awareness of caring, highlight the challenges unpaid carers face and recognise the contribution they make to families and communities throughout the UK. It also helps people who don't think of themselves as having caring responsibilities to identify as carers, and to access much-needed support.

Councillor Linda Leach, Cabinet Member for Adults, said: "We are on hand to give our city’s unpaid carers as much help as possible to carry out their vitally important role, so whether you are an adult or a young carer, please don’t hesitate to get in touch.”

Councillor Jacqui Coogan, Cabinet Member for Children, Young People and Education, added: "Thousands of unpaid carers in Wolverhampton look after family members or friends who have a disability, a mental or physical illness, or simply need extra help as they grow older, and Carers Week is a chance for us all to recognise and celebrate their incredible hard work, dedication, and compassion."

The council offers a range of assistance to people of any age who care for a friend, relative or neighbour, ensuring they are supported in their caring role, and have access to the services they need. Read the full story by clicking the link in the comments below 👇

A new Armed Forces Hub held its first drop-in session at Wolverhampton's Central Library yesterday, offering a welcoming space for serving personnel, veterans, reservists, and their families.

The hub, delivered by STEPWAY CIO working alongside the council and a wide range of local partners, brings together local services, charities and community organisations in one place, making it easier for members of the Armed Forces community to get help, advice and support.

Neil Binder, from STEPWAY CIO, said: "The first meeting went very well and we look forward to engaging with more veterans in the future and creating more collaborative working partnerships with organisations across the city.”

People can access the Armed Forces Hub on the first Thursday of every month from 1-4pm at Central Library.
