The Low Hill Relaxed Reading Group Returns! 📚

Whether you read crime, fantasy or romance – everything is welcome at a Relaxed Reading Group. Join fellow book lovers to discuss what you’ve been reading recently, swap books (completely optional) and participate in quiet reading time together.

At our re-introductory meeting, we will set the tone for our book club and decide how we want future sessions to look.

Join us at Penn Library tomorrow for the latest in our 'Spotlight...' series - The Adventures of Harry Payne: The Edwardian Literary Tramp!

This presentation pieces together the remarkable story of a partially-sighted vagrant, as he tramped around the British Isles in the 1900s. At each town he visited, Harry earned a few pence by writing a review of that place for the local newspaper.

These perceptive snapshots provide a unique worm’s-eye view of Britain before the Great War. They earned Harry the epithet, the “Literary Tramp”, and challenge the myth that poor people left no written record of their lives and experiences.

Move over Jack London and George Orwell – here is the authentic voice from the streets!

Unlock a world of information with Mark Cooper as he explores the connection between the three main locksmiths of the city that exhibited their ware at the Great Exhibition in London of 1851 🗝️

While Willenhall, Darlaston & Wednesbury are generally associated with the trades of lock-making, Wolverhampton became world famous in making precision safety locks that claimed to save many lives.
