A VERY Happy New Year to all of my customers, here's hoping its a good one for all.
Happy New Year to all my friends and customers.
I am still finding many computer users do not routinely backup up their data. There are several options for backing up, memory stick, external hard drive or into the cloud. Sadly computers do have failing hard drives or software issues that can only be fixed by reloading the software. When you are stressed because of your computer issues you don't want further stress from potentially losing your treasured photos and documents.
A very Happy Christmas a wonderful New Year to all my friends and customers.
Still lots if scams out there, phishing emails from HMRC, scam phonecards still, so be very wary about anyone offering help, if you haven't asked for it its probably a scam.
Memory prices coming down, ssd prices coming down, new Ryzen 2 processors out in the summer, new Vega graphics cards out later in the year. Soon be a good time to buy the new computer.
It seems our scammers from India are still trying it on with customers, usual story about problems with their computer and they want to remotely connect, eventually want your money to fix. As I always tell people, the only person who knows if there is a problem with your pc is you, nobody outside your house can possibly know, so don't believe anyone who tries to tell you they do.
It is still possible to upgrade to Windows 10 for free if you have Windows 7 or 8
It looks as though AMD have finally got a range of processors to compete against Intel. I have been using AMD processors for years but performance wise have been a bit below par but have always been a good price. Now with their range of Ryzen processors they match or beat Intel even at the top of the range and are very competitively priced.
I am still having to sort out computers which have been remotely accessed by our scammers in India, two visits this week involved one person who had his bank account cleared out and the other had a password placed on his pc so he could not access windows. These scams seem to be getting more frequent and I cannot stress too much what a nuisance they can be and what the potential costs may be to you. I have to stress again that anyone who calls you trying to tell you there is a problem with your computer is a fraud, there is no way that anyone other than yourself knows what is going on with your pc, Please don't be caught out like some of my customers
Yet another scam has come to light this week, calls from someone purporting to be from BT about broadband issues wanting to access your computer and ultimately charge you for an engineers visit to fit a new router. This has happened to 3 people I know in the last couple of days.
I can only stress again that if anyone calls about broadband or computer problems it is a scam because the only person who knows what you pc is doing is you, despite what anyone may say.
