Sunny days at the track ☀️

I’m loving my training at the moment 👌🏻

Prepping for the Snowdon Marathon and Wirral Backyard Ultra in July 🏃🏻‍♂️

Lots of easy hours building the engine, a couple of strength days to keep on top of the good stuff and a sprinkle of threshold intensity to maintain the top end.

The more and more we learn about Hyrox, the more things point towards needing a big aerobic capacity.

Getting the right blend between easy and hard days is the key.

You don’t need lung busting Hyrox workouts every day. You need structured progressive specific training that will develop the right energy systems.

Your body will only ever adapt and recover from the training stimulus if you let it.

Train smarter, not harder 👊🏻

Today’s threshold session:
10 mins progressive warm up
35 mins low threshold
10 mins cool down

Glorious day for it 👌🏻🎯

Facts over feelings…

A term I use a lot with the team.

Often we believe the narrative inside our own heads.

Our thoughts are driven on emotions.

Our emotions and feelings can change day to day based on circumstances.

I always remind the team, that as real as our emotions and thoughts are, they’re not always accurate and tell the real story.

But the facts do.

And facts come from the data you’re tracking every day.

That’s why tracking metrics is vital in order for long term progress and sustainability.

The data and facts are there for the days where we’re tired, or feel off and think negatively.

The facts draw you back to the bigger picture that your feelings are trying to bring you away from.

People who struggle to see progress often let their feelings over ride the facts and make poor decisions.

Next time you feel off or think you’re not making progress in there here and now, take a step back and look at the facts.

Mindset is a big part of the process to becoming a better athlete.

“The chimp paradox” is a great book to read to understand more about mindset and processing your thoughts, go check it out 👊🏻

We’ve all been there…

Finished a race and immediately booked the next one.

It’s defo part of the post race high that we all get 😂

A lot of my guys and girls think in the same manner.

But that’s where the role of the coach comes into play.

Always one step ahead of the game with the planning, the structure, the next step.

This post isn’t to say don’t book races close together, because they can be useful for testing.

But be prepared to see a very similar result if you’re racing within 4-8 weeks of your last race.

As adaptation takes times, with every race you should be learning something.

Seeing the data for what it is and what’s falling short and needs focus.

The key thing is though, giving the process enough time for the training adaptation to take place, so you can reach that next level and take that step forwards.

If you see your progress stalling or worse case going backwards, it’s probably that you need to be thinking and planning for months of development not weeks 👊🏻

The next episode ⏳

To all the Endur members thank you for the last 18 months.

It’s been a pleasure helping and group coaching you all.

From my first Hyrox group class’s with 3-4 people in them, to the consistently fully booked waiting lists and big Hyrox sim days.

Whether it was getting you into the incredible sport that Hyrox is, prepping you for your races, helping you become stronger and fitter or just being your 60 mins escape from every day life….

Whatever the cause, it’s been epic being a part of it 👊🏻

When I left JD Gyms and transitioned from gym floor PT to an online coach, the last thing I wanted to do was spend everyday of the week sat behind a screen and on social media, away from what I do best… coaching!

So on those long days, those 2-3 hours of coming to coach you guys face to face and having a laugh was the highlight of the day.

So thank you all for that!

Sometimes in life we can’t control what happens to us, but we are in full control of how we react to it and what comes next 👊🏻

PMA always 🧠

More PB’s to add to the catalogue 🎯

Right now in the Hyrox off season, we’re helping a lot of the HPA members improve their 5k and 10k times.

The team are putting in the real work daily, and it’s nice to see their efforts be rewarded 🙌🏻

We’ll continue building 🧱

All these guys and girls were once sat there, knowing they could do better, but needed the structure, support and accountability to do so.

Now they’re flourishing, consistently getting faster, fitter and stronger🔝

If you’re interested in 1-2-1 coaching and taking the way you feel, perform and look up a few gears, just drop me a message for more info.

Just because it feels easy, doesn’t mean it was an aerobic run.

I see a lot of people’s “easy” runs turn into progressive tempos, drifting all the way into threshold territory.

“But it felt easy”.

The body doesn’t care how it felt, it cares about the signal.

The aerobic energy system is the base of your engine.

It’s what holds everything else together.

The bigger the base, the fitter, faster and more efficient you will be at running, Hyrox or any sport.

But it only develops with a clear, sustained aerobic stimulus.

Not 5 mins of aerobic, then 40 mins bouncing between tempo, threshold and max HR.

Feelings don’t build fitness, the right physiological signal does.

Follow the signal, not the feeling.

Photos from Human Performance Academy's post 10/06/2026

A big reason people don’t see improvements in fitness and running is because they’re training by feel.

A recovery run should feel super easy.

An Aerobic run should feel easy and an effort you can sustain for 60+ mins.

A threshold run should feel comfortably hard.

But the feeling isn’t what drives performance and progress…

The physiological signal and data is.

Labelling a 10km run “easy” doesn’t mean you’ve just trained the aerobic system.

What does the data say?

Which direction is the signal pointing in?

Starting off in zone 2 but gradually drifting into zone 3 and finishing off in threshold?

That’s not aerobic, that’s a poorly managed training session with no real adaptation taken place.

Next time you go out on a specific run, pay attention to the HR data over how you feel, and see what changes.

Every session should have its purpose and feed into the next one.

Stop guessing and start training with purpose.

Follow the signal, not the feeling 👊🏻
