Happy Friday Everyone,
Thank you to our wonderful community for everything you do.
Harvey & Poppy set up a homemade lemonade stall at Old Windsor Fair, raised vital funds and then spent every penny on essentials for our guests shampoo, shower gel, deodorant, tea, coffee and snacks. Truly heartwarming. ๐Ÿ‹
A huge thank you to Princess Margaret Hospital staff who volunteered their time serving refreshments and lunch to our guests. ๐Ÿ™
We end with the ongoing support from ACT Foundation they have donated tents and sleeping bags โ€” vital for our guests sleeping rough. ๐Ÿงก
Wishing everyone a wonderful weekend

"Volunteers' Week โ€” 1 to 7 June 2026

At Alma Beacon, volunteers are at the heart of everything we do. Volunteers' Week gives us the opportunity to pause and recognise the people who show up week in, week out supporting the day to day running of the project, serving guests, preparing and cooking food, providing admin support, cutting hair, and so much more.
We are grateful to you all. Thank you. ๐Ÿ™๐ŸŒน

Last night we gathered to celebrate the outstanding work of our volunteers across this year's Cold Weather Night Shelter, which ran from December through to March.

With it being Volunteers' Week, the timing felt right to give a well-deserved mention to Rachel and Eleanor, who between them covered over 60 evening shifts โ€” a remarkable commitment by any measure.

Thank you also to Brenda and Lesa from WHP for organising the food and for their tireless work in re-housing guests and changing lives; to our Committee, who give their time freely to organise everything behind the scenes and make the Night Shelter possible year after year.
None of this happens without you. Thank you โœŒ

Happy Friday to you All - A big thank you to the team at International Hotels Group (IHG) who gave the Alma Beacon a deep clean yesterday. The Green Oak pub in Fifield provided us with another outstanding lunch and the Swan at Clewer dropped off some beautiful homemade cakes for desert - we are so grateful to you all. Finally a big shout out to Big Yellow Self Storage for providing us with storage facilities: very generous and we really appreciate it - Thank you.
Wishing you all a lovely weekend

Happy Friday! We had some delicious cake donated to us from Flower Land in Bournend and flaky pastries from Heidi's patisserie -Thank you to you both our guests appreciate these decadent treats. Lunch was provided by the Greene Oak; a delicious pork stew and trifle from Kay โ€“ thanks so much we couldnโ€™t provide such quality food without your support. To top the week RBWM libraries have donated several workstations so our guests can look for jobs, create CVs and independently manage their life admin. Thanks to Kevin one of our volunteers who kindly set this all up for us. Amazing! Thank you All, and have a great weekend.

It has been an incredible few weeks at the WHP for both our team and our guests. We have many thanks to give to our incredible volunteers, our corporate volunteers and our community at large all of whom provide us with essential support. We welcomed teams from IHG Hotels & Resorts, De Vere Beaumont Estate, Centrica and for the first time Aramark and the professional chefs from Combermere & Victoria Barracks.
It was also wonderful to welcome the Lord Lieutenant of Berkshire and his family and Cllr Mandy Brar the new Mayor of Windsor & Maidenhead. We thank them for their support and interest in WHP. We are always looking for passionate people to join us. Whether you want to bring your whole office for a team building volunteer day or share your own skills, please get in touch.
