In our fast-paced society, it's common to feel overwhelmed by social media, advertising, and the constant search for the next best thing. Sometimes, it's hard to slow down and appreciate what we have.

But here's some advice ""Control the controllables.""

You can't always change the outcome of a situation, but you can control how you think about it. Remember that thoughts are just thoughts, not facts. And remember, your own opinion is the most important one.

Mental health and wellbeing should be a priority for all employers, but when it comes to men's mental health, the issue is often overlooked. Not purposely of course but because it's a common fact that men tend to hide their emotions, which can lead to them struggling alone with their mental health.

Well done team! ⚽️

Looking to boost morale in the workplace? Brew Monday is on the 15th Jan, why not take a moment to connect with your colleagues over a cuppa? β˜•οΈ

Let's dispel the myth of 'Blue Monday' and start meaningful conversations about mental health. Research shows that 1 in 4 people in the workplace may experience mental health problems, so taking the time to listen and support one another can make a real difference. 🀝

Listening is key - sometimes all it takes is a comforting ear to make someone's day a little brighter. πŸ‘‚πŸ˜Œ

Remember, any day can be a Brew Monday. Choose a time that works for your team and make a positive impact on each other's well-being. πŸ₯°

Recent studies conducted by Gallup reveal the top priorities for Millennials when considering job opportunities. πŸ‘€

These include a strong focus on opportunities for personal growth and development, a genuine interest in the nature of the work, and a clear pathway for career advancement.

Businesses have taken notice of these preferences already, with nearly half of companies recognising the significance of enhancing talent progression and promotion processes.

As a result, this trend has emerged as a crucial aspect of effective HR practices in 2024. πŸ’

As we head into the new year, it's essential to stay informed about the upcoming changes to employment law.

The Carer's Leave Act 2023 will provide eligible employees with one week of unpaid leave per year for caring responsibilities. This new entitlement will be available from day one of employment, allowing flexibility to cater to their unique needs.

Additionally, the upcoming Protection from Redundancy (Pregnancy and Family Leave) Act 2023 will enhance the redundancy protection for pregnant workers and parents on family leave. They will be offered priority status for any suitable alternative employment in a redundancy situation.

Stay ahead of the curve and prepare for these changes to ensure compliance and a fair workplace for all employees.

As the festive season approaches, employers should ensure they take reasonable steps to prevent discrimination, harassment and victimisation during work-related events.

The Equality Act 2010 means that employers can be held liable for their employees' behaviour, even during social events outside of work hours. To protect employees, employers should issue a statement in advance of parties and events, reminding staff of conduct matters and the dangers of excess alcohol consumption.

By taking proactive measures, employers can demonstrate their duty of care towards staff and promote a safe and respectful workplace culture.

Make the most of your Work Christmas Party πŸŽ…πŸ₯³:

Amidst the festive cheer and celebration, it's important to remember that your office party is still a professional affair.
Make the most of this opportunity by including a concise business update.
This practice not only keeps everyone informed about upcoming plans for the next year but also boosts employee morale.

Here are some areas you can focus on in your update:

- Recap of sales achievements for the year
- Outline of sales projections for the upcoming year
- Highlights of the business's success this year
- Valuable customer feedback
- Recognition of any outstanding employee contributions
- Gathering team feedback

By incorporating these points, you'll ensure that your work Christmas party remains both enjoyable and productive. πŸŽ…

The Employment Relations (Flexible Working) Act 2023 aims to make it easier for employees to apply to work flexibly. It is intended to increase the flexibility of working arrangements to encourage individuals to enter the workplace and it is thought the Act will align with cultural changes that have been apparent post-covid.

Two of the key changes:
β€’ Currently an employee is limited to making one flexible working application a year, this will change to allow two applications in the year.
β€’ Employers will be required to deal with the request within two months (unless an extension has been agreed).

Boosting employees' morale is an ongoing effort. To create an optimal workplace culture and provide employees with the experiences they want and deserve, it is important to implement multiple strategies. Here are some effective ways to address and boost employees' morale:

1. Conduct regular one-to-one meetings to understand how employees feel and if they can handle their workload effectively.

2. Recognise and acknowledge employees by providing regular feedback on their performance.

3. Organise team-building events to create opportunities for socialising in a different environment.

4. Promote employee well-being by introducing initiatives or benefits that support their physical and mental health.
