some great memories from last weekend .......

Well... what can I say? Thank you.

Thank you to everyone who came along and helped make the Fat Digester 30th Anniversary Yard Party such a special day.

When we first started talking about putting this event together, I had hopes that it would be good. I hoped we'd get some old friends together, play some music, share a few stories, and have some fun. But what actually happened exceeded our/my expectations in every possible way.

Looking around the brewery yard and seeing so many familiar faces from so many different eras of the band's history was genuinely moving. Former band members, friends, family, supporters, promoters, drinking companions and people who have somehow survived the experience of knowing us over the years all came together to create something far bigger than just a gig.

What became clear throughout the day was that this was never really about the music alone……. It was about family .A family that has grown over three decades and stretches far beyond the people who have stood on stage. It includes everyone who has danced, laughed, travelled, supported, encouraged, and shared this strange adventure with us along the way.

The greatest joy of the day was seeing people reconnecting. Old friendships rekindled, stories retold, hugs exchanged and memories shared. And, as with any proper family gathering, there were a few memorable moments, including:

• A marriage proposal (congratulations Chris and Julie)
• the small miracle of Fish making it to the stage on time.
• The excellent music on offer from LICK, The Sherwins, Stinking Rita, Mark Blant, Sun & Moon, Inity Hifi and Hoplites
• And there was the wonderfully percussion-heavy soundtrack to the day, which felt entirely fitting as we remembered and celebrated Tim. His influence, energy and spirit were everywhere, with many people giving the triangle a ’ting in his honour.

Thirty years ago, we set out with one simple ambition: to leave people with a smile on their face. Judging by the dancing, the laughter, and the atmosphere throughout the day, I think we might just have managed it again.

Thank you to all the musicians who gave their time and talent, to Castle Rock Brewery and the team (Gaz and Steph) who helped make it happen, to everyone who worked behind the scenes, and most importantly to every single person who bought a ticket and came along.

You made the day what it was.

You helped create some amazing memories.

And you reminded us why we've kept doing this for all these years.

From the bottom of my heart, thank you.

Stay Fat.
Ned

🚨 TOMORROW! 🚨

After 30 years, thousands of gigs, countless band members, thousands of miles, several questionable decisions and one or two moments of actual competence...

Fat Digester's 30th Anniversary Party is finally here.

Tomorrow we bring together old friends, former members, familiar faces and a collection of musicians that somehow spans three decades of organised chaos.

There'll be great bands, great beer, great food, plenty of dancing, a few surprises, and many stories that are not printable here.

Most of all, it's a chance to celebrate the people who've made this ridiculous adventure possible.

If you've ever seen us, booked us, danced with us, lent us gear, given us a sofa, or simply crossed paths with the band over the years, we'd love to see you there.

Let's make some more memories.

great news .....

Big news!

We are delighted to announce that Fat Digester's 30th Birthday all day yard party celebration at Castle Rock Brewery and The Old Cold Store, Nottingham on June 13th will be all ages.
Due to this if you are lucky enough to look under 25 we recommend bringing ID. Under 18s will be allowed but will be given a different wristband and if your over 18 but look young you won't get served without proof of age on the door.
Sadly we can't let under 18s in for the after party in the Old Cold Store with Inity Sound System when the live bands finish at 10.30pm but all ages 1.30pm-10.30pm in the yard for all bands!
