🌍 As Cave Week comes to a close, we're taking a moment to celebrate the incredible underground worlds that exist beneath our feet.
Caves are more than just rock formations. They preserve stories spanning hundreds of thousands of years, protect unique ecosystems, and help us better understand the people, animals, and environments that came before us.
Here at Kent's Cavern, those stories are written into every passageway and chamber. From Ice Age animals to some of Britain's earliest human ancestors, our cave has been helping uncover the story of humanity for generations.
This Cave Week, we've celebrated caves across the UK and beyond, but the work of protecting and preserving these remarkable places continues every day.
Here's to our cave heritage, the discoveries still waiting to be made, and the generations who will explore them in the future. 🦴⛰️💚
Have you visited a cave before? Let us know your favourite below ⬇️
🌍 Happy World Environment Day 🌍
When we think about protecting the environment, we often picture forests, oceans, and wildlife. But beneath our feet lies another fragile world that needs protecting too.
For thousands of years, Kents Cavern has preserved the stories of ancient humans, Ice Age animals, and the natural forces that shaped our planet. As a UNESCO Global Geopark site, protecting this incredible cave system isn't just about preserving the past – it's about ensuring future generations can experience, learn from, and be inspired by it.
Every visit, every conservation effort, and every step taken to protect our natural heritage helps safeguard these remarkable spaces for years to come.
This World Environment Day, we're celebrating the importance of preserving not only the world above ground, but the hidden wonders beneath it too.
🌿 Protect the planet. Preserve our heritage. Inspire the future.

🥉 We're incredibly proud to announce that Kent's Cavern has been awarded Bronze in the International Tourism category at the VisitEngland Awards for Excellence 2026.
This award is a reflection of the passion, dedication and hard work of every single member of our team. From our guides and visitor experience staff to our café team, cleaners, maintenance team, office staff and everyone behind the scenes, this achievement belongs to all of them.
We'd also like to extend a huge thank you to our partners, supporters, local tourism businesses and, of course, the hundreds of thousands of visitors who choose to spend their time exploring our cave each year. Your support allows us to continue sharing this extraordinary place with people from across the globe.
To be recognised on a national stage alongside some of the very best tourism attractions in the country is a tremendous honour, and we're grateful to everyone who has played a part in our journey.
Here's to continuing to welcome visitors from around the world to one of Britain's most important prehistoric sites. ❤️
🧀 Happy Cheese Day!
We know Kents Cavern is 400 million years old, home to Ice Age animals and some of Britain's earliest humans...
But today we're asking the important questions.
"What is this?"
"Cheese."
If all this talk of cheese has made you hungry, you'll find plenty of it in our gift shop and on the menu at Firestone Kitchen.
🦖 Shadows from a lost world.
Everything we know about dinosaurs comes from clues left behind millions of years ago. Fossils, footprints and fragments of bone help us piece together creatures we'll never see with our own eyes.
Watching these dinosaur shadows dance across the cave walls feels like a glimpse into that distant past, where imagination meets discovery.
Step into the Age of the Dinosaurs at Kents Cavern and come face to face with prehistoric giants hidden throughout the caves.
🎟 Included with standard cave admission.

Small dinosaur. Big attitude. 🦖
Meet Compsognathus Longipes, one of the smallest dinosaurs ever discovered. Living around 150 million years ago during the Late Jurassic period, this fast little carnivore may have been tiny, but it was still a skilled hunter.
Could you imagine coming face-to-face with one of these? 👀
