🏕️ 2-Night Camp at Boidier Hurst 🏕️

What a fantastic weekend away with Scouts ticking off some of their Outdoor Challenge.

Setting up and striking camp including the mess tent and kitchen area. Hands-on experiencce while learning about a variety of cooking methods, including using them safely - gas hobs, Trangias, Kelly Kettles, campfires, travel stoves, and expedition gas burners.

Making a pioneering washing up stand, cooking lunch and dinner on a fire developing their fire lighting, and outdoor cooking skills and teamwork.

Lunch was inside out meatballs and dinner was chicken cutlets covered in crisps with boiled potatoes, peas and carrots followed by croissants filled with chocolate and marshmallows heated on the fire.

Well done to all the Scouts for their enthusiasm and effort throughout the weekend.

Friday night for the Scouts not at camp was all about ice cream. They made ice cream in a bag with cream, milk, sugar, and a flavouring of choice. Chocolate, vanilla, peppermint or caramel. Ice cream facts were put round the hall and the Scouts then had an ice cream quiz. To complete the ice cream theme they had a relay race with a simulated ice cream cone.

On Friday the Scouts took part in an inter District event. They went to the local park to play a game of non-stop cricket with 16th Morden. It was great to see 42 Scouts out in the park having fun.

For your information.

Due to a fire at our neighbouring shop, we are currently without internet and phone services.

Unfortunately, this means our card payment machine is not working at the moment. We kindly ask customers to pay by cash where possible. For group badge orders etc, account payments can still be arranged.

Our thoughts are with our neighbours affected by the fire, and we wish them all the best as they deal with the situation.

🇬🇧 Today, the Scouts had the privilege of attending the Major General’s Review at Horse Guards Parade.
Despite the hot weather, the Scouts were a credit to the group—showing great respect throughout the day and thoroughly enjoying the impressive parade.
A special thank you goes to Colour Sergeant Colin, who kindly took the time to guide us through the event and explain the significance of what we were seeing. His knowledge and enthusiasm helped make the day even more memorable.
At the end of the parade, we had the opportunity to meet other leaders from Lambert before finishing our trip with a walk to Buckingham Palace.
A fantastic day full of learning, history, and unforgettable experiences for everyone involved! 🇬🇧⚜️

For Scouts the last week before the half term break was fires and cooking. In teams the Scouts all built different types of fire, the upside down pyramid was the most successful.

Once they had a fire going they cooked hot dogs using different methods, a pan suspended on a tripod, a standard grid, a small tripod over the fire, a tin can directly in a fire and using a Y shaped stick to lever the pan over the fire.

This was followed by chopped apples with cinnamon baked in the foil in the fire and then topped with crushed digestives to make campfire apple crumble.

All ticking off part of their Outdoor Challenge.

For the last meeting of the half term, the Cubs were working towards their scientists badge.
Learning about microscopes, searching for items to look at & viewing them through the microscope.

This week the Scouts explored different disabilities through discussion, games and activities. This was all organised and run very well and thoughtfully by one of our Young Leaders.
