Drew has played a crucial role in the senior 1xv since making his debut in 2018. A prolific try scorer, he also holds the accolade of playing the most 1xv minutes of anyone in the squad in the 2025/26 season.

🏉 MATCH REPORT🏉 - PENICUIK VS RAVENS
30TH AUGUST

Strathaven ladies played a pre-Season friendly against their good friends from Penicuik RFC.

Penicuik had a few local players from other teams helping out to give them some game time and were kind enough to lend the travelling 12 Ravens a few players too to make it 15's.

The game was played in good spirits with plenty of great rugby on display from both sides.

Strathaven took an early lead going 12 nil up in the first 15mins, but Penicuik responded to the questions asked with two scores in quick succession. After a pep talk from Captain Maia, the Ravens got back into the game and played some decent flowing rugby and got two further tries, taking the lead 24-12 going into half time.

After the break, Penicuik made a few changes, getting some fresh legs on the pitch which made an impact and they began to dominate the match.

The game was very closely matched, with end to end action. It all came down to the last 20mins. Fitness was a massive part and having no bench, it was evident that Strathaven started to get tired. Everyone gave it their all til the final whistle with Penicuik taking the win 56-44.

The friendly gave our players 80 mins of rugby before we look at starting our league and cup campaign for the season ahead in West 2 region in the coming weeks ahead.

Thanks to Penicuik for the great match, the lovely hospitality and also to the girls from the other teams who came together for some great womens rugby.
