Our SAFC u18s were in action tonight at Brendan mc Cusker park against Irvinestown Wanderers in the BKYL league.
A strong team performance saw Strabane dominate the game from the first whistle and finished comfortable 4-1 winners on the night.

Well done to our players and coaches. A great result on the road ! 💙🤍

The SAFC U15 girls were in action tonight in the D&D league against Don Boscos. A lot on the line in this game tonight.

After being a bit unsettled at the beginning, the Strabane girls kept strong at the back, with a solid line forcing Don Boscos into some tight spaces and winning the possession early on. Both teams creating chances in the first half only for the Strabane shot stopper to deny the home team.

Strabane started the second half strong and put in a great battling performance. Eventually after a series of stops, Emily finally opened the scoring for the Strabane side. A fiery second half indeed and alot of resilience shown by the whole team. Kaela struck a long range effort and was denied by the crossbar. Strabane kept the pressure on and once again, Emily found the back of the net for the second time after an energy busting run from the half way line, past several defenders and nicely slotted into the Don Boscos net!

Strabane held strong until the end and the game finished 2-0 at the final whistle.

Dundela FC 1 Strabane Athletic 1

Strabane Athletic returned from their latest trip to East Belfast on Friday evening with a well deserved share of the points. Their opponents were Dundela FC a well established familiar name in Irish football and a Club who many would fancy to be at the top end of the table at the end of the season.
The hosts were business like in their early approach work and forced a corner. The delivery found centre forward Benny Igiehon unmarked in the six yard box and he gratefully headed home the chance to give his team the lead after 5 minutes.
Buoyed up by the early goal Dundela threatened to extend the lead by putting Athletic under heavy pressure for the next 10 minutes. A couple of defensive blocks and a good save from Michael Lynch kept the Belfast team at bay and they went close again with a shot off the upright around the 20 minute mark.
From here on Strabane grew into the game and Garth Falconer played a lovely low cross into the box which was blocked on the line. Sean McCallion followed up with a super turn and shot from outside the penalty area which was inches wide.
On the half hour a rampant Athletic produced a flowing move involving Bradley Callaghan and Sean McCallion. The latter’s wonderful pass found Conal Crawford whose effort was blocked for a corner by Gerard Walker in the Dundela goal.
The Belfast side threatened briefly again when Igiehon headed over but Strabane retained the initiative and only a brilliantly timed last ditch defensive tackle foiled McCallion.
As the 45 minute mark approached, Falconer headed Simon McGlynn’s pinpoint cross over the bar and McCallion’s free kick was gathered by the keeper.
Half time saw the hosts a goal to the good but the local team playing well and very much in the game.
The restart saw Athletic in the same positive frame of mind and it wasn’t long before they were rewarded. When a long throw was headed out Simon McGlynn turned skilfully in the box and placed his low shot into the far corner for a goal of real class. The score was no more than Strabane deserved and they went on to create more opportunities which on another day might have yielded victory. To be fair to Dundela, they also rallied after the Strabane goal. Falconer saw a shot saved for Strabane before Igiehon saw the same happen for Dundela.
Sean McCallion stung the hands of the home keeper with a well struck free while at the other end Michael Lynch saved brilliantly to preserve parity.
Strabane defended resolutely as the final whistle approached and the end result saw a point for both teams.
Another decent result for Athletic was fashioned by strong defence in which Captain Liam McMenamin and Aaron O’Hagan were strong and ably assisted by tracking, tackling and attacking defenders Garth Falconer, Oisin Porter and Luke Curry. Midfielders Blaine Burns, Bradley Callaghan, and Conal Crawford were strong in the tackle and linked up well with front men Sean McCallion and Simon McGlynn, whose willingness to run at defenders caused big problems for the home rearguard.
After the game Strabane Athletic Committee spokesman Brendan Devine thanked match sponsors Craft Training NI. He offered thanks also to the travelling supporters who made the long Friday night journey to provide encouragement for the team.
The local side are on the road again on Saturday when they visit Ards , kick off 3pm.

Our SAFC 2015 premier girls played an outstanding game a football today against neighbours Sion, the passing of the ball and their hard work together as a team was second to none. It was pleasure for the coaches to stand back and watch. A cracking game played in the correct manner by both teams , well done everyone!

The girls held out for a 1-0 win.

Our SAFC U9 Whites had a fantastic day in the Shared Village today against Don Boscos. They all put in a great performance and gave 100% in the game.

The contest was so evenly matched throughout with both teams creating chances and both teams Goalkeepers busy for the duration. A fine performance from them both! The game ended in a 2-2 draw and was probably a fair result in the end .

Well done everyone 💪💙
