Frylite Senior Scratch Cup – Sunday 27th July 2025

Strabane Golf Club

The highly anticipated Frylite Senior Scratch Cup returned to Strabane Golf Club on Sunday, 27th July 2025, delivering yet another fantastic day of golf. With fair weather providing excellent playing conditions and the course in fabulous shape, thanks to the outstanding work of our greenkeeping staff, the stage was set for a high-quality competition. Players travelled from across the North West, and even as far afield as Scotland and the United States of America, a testament to the growing reputation of the event.

The honours on the day went to Dwayne Mallon from Dungannon Golf Club, who produced an outstanding level-par gross score over two rounds to claim the title. Playing off a +3 handicap, Dwayne carded a brilliant 2-under-par first round, followed by a 2-over-par second round, showing both class and composure under pressure.

There were also notable performances from several leading players:
• Joe Rooney, Enda Kennedy, Peter Doherty, Patrick Kennedy, and Phillip Kelly all returned excellent scores, keeping the competition tight and entertaining throughout the day.
• A special mention goes to Barry Patterson, who produced a superb round to win the nett prize—a terrific achievement in a strong field.

We would like to express our deepest thanks to Eamon McCay of Frylite, whose continued support and sponsorship over the past 17 years has been central to the success of this event. His loyalty and generosity are truly appreciated by everyone at Strabane Golf Club.

Thanks also to our greenkeeping team for their exceptional work in preparing the course to such a high standard, and to our bar staff, who ensured everyone was well looked after throughout the day. We also wish to acknowledge Parkland 33 for providing top-class catering, which was enjoyed by all.

Behind the scenes, the competition ran seamlessly thanks to the dedication and commitment of Damian McGranaghan, Patrick McCrossan, and David McGrath—your efforts do not go unnoticed.

Finally, sincere thanks to Club Captain Cathal Patton, who not only took part in the event himself but also played a key role in coordinating and delivering the presentation ceremony. His contribution added greatly to the occasion.

This is the final timesheet for tomorrows scratch cup, please allow plenty of time to get to the course and register in the club shop located at first tee, at least 10 mins before your start time

There will be a voucher for food when you register, this can either be used against a main meal from the carvery r soup and sandwiches (for early starters) as Parkland 33 carvery doesn’t begin until 12, also note the carvery finishes at 4:45pm!
Please do not lose voucher as it allows Parkland staff to monitor numbers from scratch cup for payment
