We were delighted to welcome pupils from Caldicott School to Signature at Farnham Common as part of their Giving Back Day.

The students spent time throughout our home sharing a variety of performances, including violin and piano recitals, as well as acting presentations. Their enthusiasm, talent, and willingness to engage with our residents created a truly memorable experience for everyone involved.

Visits such as these provide invaluable opportunities for intergenerational connection. Music and performance can have a profoundly positive impact on wellbeing, helping to stimulate memories, encourage social interaction, enhance mood, and foster a sense of community.

The feedback from our residents was overwhelmingly positive, with many commenting on the students' kindness, confidence, and remarkable talent. It was a pleasure to see such meaningful interactions taking place, and the visit was greatly appreciated.

We would like to extend our sincere thanks to the pupils and staff of Caldicott School πŸ’œ

🌟 Celebrating Carers Week 🌟

This week we've been showing our appreciation for our incredible carers and everything they do each day to support others with compassion, dedication, and kindness.

Throughout the week, our team has enjoyed a range of wellbeing treats, including relaxing aromatherapy hand massages, mini massages, a sweet treat trolley, surprise wellness gift bags, and plenty of delicious food with burgers and pizzas on offer.

The celebrations don't stop there! As we head into the weekend, we'll be continuing the festivities with muffins, drinks, and more goodie bags for our amazing carers to enjoy.
A huge thank you to all our carers for the difference you make every single day.

Your hard work, commitment, and care do not go unnoticed, and this week has been our way of saying how much we value and appreciate each and every one of you πŸ’œ

Our residents enjoyed a fascinating visit to Farnham Common Village Hall, where we had the opportunity to learn about the hall's rich history and its important role during and post war for National Archive Day.

The tour provided a wonderful insight into how the hall served the local community during challenging times, and residents enjoyed discovering stories from the past while exploring its history.

We were also delighted to have a wonderful reminiscence session led by Heather, who took us on a journey back to 1972. Residents enjoyed discussing household life from the era, exploring a variety of kitchen tools and implements, and sharing memories of how these innovations helped make everyday tasks easier.

Outings and experiences like these provide valuable opportunities to connect with local heritage, encourage reminiscence, and celebrate the wealth of knowledge and experiences our residents hold.

A heartfelt thank you to the team at Farnham Common Village Hall and Heather for creating such an engaging, educational, and memorable day for everyone.

We're incredibly proud of our Hospitality Manager, Tuesdee, who is taking on the Diabetes UK One Million Step Challenge!

While the challenge officially runs from July to September, Tuesdee has set herself the goal of completing an incredible 1 million steps in just 50 days to raise both funds and awareness for Diabetes UK.

When asked why she decided to take on this challenge, Tuesdee said:

"As someone who works in the care industry, I see first-hand how widespread diabetes is among residents and the impact it can have on daily life. Diabetes affects millions of people across the UK, and its prevalence within care homes is particularly significant. That's why I'm taking on this challenge not only to raise funds, but also to raise awareness of a condition that affects so many people and their families”

β€œOver the next 50 days, I'll be pushing myself to reach one million steps, and I'd be incredibly grateful for any support you can give. Whether it's a donation, a share, or words of encouragement, every bit helps. Thank you for supporting me and helping raise awareness of diabetes."

Every two minutes, someone in the UK is diagnosed with diabetes. Diabetes UK funds vital research into better treatments, provides support for those living with the condition, and works towards a future where diabetes can do no harm.

If you would like to support Tuesdee's challenge, please consider donating via the link below. Every contribution, no matter the size, will make a difference.

For many residents, a birthday is about so much more than marking another year, it is a meaningful reminder of identity, belonging and feeling truly valued πŸ’œ

As people grow older, particularly when they have moved away from a long-term home or are living with changing health needs, these moments of recognition can mean the world.

Birthdays offer a chance to celebrate the person behind the occasion. Their memories, achievements and favourite traditions.Feeling remembered and celebrated can boost emotional wellbeing, lift spirits and provide comfort and reassurance.
