🎓💻 We’re reaching out to organisations, parents/carers, alumni, the local community and wider network for support.

At Borden Grammar School, many of the laptops currently used in lessons are now over ten years old and have reached the end of their usable life. They are increasingly difficult to maintain and no longer reliably support the tools needed for modern teaching and learning.

We currently operate classroom laptop trolleys in sets of 16 devices, and eight of these sets now need replacing. As you can imagine, the cost of a full refresh is significant, and school budgets have not kept pace with the growing demand for technology. 📈

Like many schools, we have considered moving to a 1:1 device model, where students are required to provide their own laptop. However, this is not an approach we currently want to take due to the financial pressure it places on families, we would only wish for this to be a final option.

Instead, we are hoping to work with organisations, the local community and our alumni. 🤝

If you work for, or have connections with, an organisation that regularly refreshes its IT equipment, we would greatly appreciate you considering whether any surplus laptops could be donated to the school rather than being disposed of. ♻️💼

✅ Devices with Intel 8th generation (or newer) or AMD Ryzen 2000 series (or newer) are ideal.

💡 We are particularly looking for matching sets of 16 (for classroom use), although smaller batches are also very useful if they are the same model and specification.

Your support would have a direct impact on current students, helping ensure fair access to essential digital resources without passing costs on to families.
