Our mission: To bring music, song and dance into people's lives through participation and performance. Come and join us – sign up for the newsletter!

Soundpost was started in 2011 by Fay Hield, Sam Sweeney, Andy Bell and Jon Boden to bring music, song and dance into people's lives through participation and performance. Since then Soundpost has grown into quite a beast, running four sold out weekends, day-long workshops study days, schools projects and supporting Royal Traditions. At the heart of all our events remains a commitment to develop practical skills with thinking attached whilst firmly recognising the value of entertainment.

We are forwarding this from Neil McSweeney Head of Music Management at Sheff Uni, and Co- Founder of Hudson Records:

Do you want to be in a photo showing the strength of the music scene is Sheffield? Hello valued contributor to Sheffield's musical life!

I’m about to publish a sector report making the investment case for Sheffield's music economy, and as part of the launch we're gathering the city's various communities of musical practice for a photograph - Thursday 4 June at 5pm on the steps of Sheffield City Hall.

No big event, no speeches, no commitment beyond showing up. Just a powerful visual statement of how broad and deep this scene is.

I'd be very grateful if you could share this with your network of musicians, promoters, producers, music educators, venue people, or anyone else connected to Sheffield's music life.

Turnout is everything. The bigger and more representative the crowd, the stronger the picture.

Thursday 4 June · 5:00pm · Sheffield City Hall, Barker's Pool, S1 2JA

We're delighted to announce the first Sheffield Youth Folk Festival!

To mark ten years of Folk Factory we thought we'd put on a festival celebrating all things folk in Sheffield! We'll be joined by youth groups from other traditional cultures, so join us for a day packed with workshops, ceilidhs, dancing and performances, all imagined and organised by young people themselves.

We'll be joined by Welcoming Cultures, Roma Jilo and Tunes.amd Rhythms alongside alumni groups, and Sheffield Music Hub.

As Festival Director Nicola Beazley says, it’s about celebrating what folk means in Sheffield today, showing how these traditions evolve and connect us all.

Huge thank you to those that have helped fund us so far:
