Beautiful original wooden door given the VIP lock treatment in Nether Edge .
The original nightlatch lock fitted to the door finally gave up after 40 years of service, and our customer was concerned that it would jam up completely.
The top hinge has also gradually worked its way loose, meaning that the door was rubbing on the frame every time they used it.
New lock fitted, hinge tightened, and extra keys cut to cylinder all in one visit.

Always a challenge when the customer hands you a bag of parts containing most of the pieces from the previous lock! 😁😁
This composite gate lock was showing signs of corrosion, and wasn’t deadlocking fully, so we replaced it with a more robust version.
Frame side plate was misaligned, so we fixed that too to prevent the same issue happening again.

Another “Locksmith” company in Sheffield installed this for a customer in Millhouses several months ago after they lost the keys to their secondary patio doors.
Even though the cylinder is one of the latest anti-snap ones, the fact that it protrudes so far out is an open invitation the would-be intruders.
Yes, the lock will go into secure mode once snapped, but it would mean that the lock needs replacing at yet more unnecessary expense.

Loose and very worn handles replaced in Millhouses .
The plastic washers in these older style unsprung handles perish over time, and eventually break off, leaving the handle still attached to the backplate, but very loose and wobbly (technical term! 😁)

The importance of regularly lubricating and checking the condition of your UPVC doors…..
This customer in Millhouses had just moved into a property, and hadn’t been given any keys for the double conservatory doors. It turns out that these doors hadn’t been opened for several years, and water ingress meant that these doors hadn’t bottom shoot bolts had corroded and jammed the doors locked. 😬😬😬
What started out as a simple lock replacement job ended up being a full repair and door realignment.
As they wanted to keep costs down, they decided to wait before replacing the badly corroded handles, but took our advice on upgrading the locks to anti-snap cylinders.

Out and about in Whirlowdale helping a customer who had several UPVC windows that were either jammed shut, or had broken handles that no longer worked.
They feared they would have to replace the whole window units, but we were able to open and replace the damaged and corroded gearboxes, fit new in line handles with new keys, and give all of the hinges and mechanisms a much needed spray with WD-40.

Called out to a faulty/jammed internal door latch in Woodseats .
The customer was concerned about getting locked in if it failed completely, and wasn’t sure if it was too small a job for us to come out to.
