🧑‍⚖️ UK EMPLOYMENT LAW UPDATE: Employment Rights Bill debate resumes

📃 Parliament is starting to discuss the Employment Rights Bill again. This is an important step before it can become law, and there is still potential changes could be made.

🕍 In July 2025, the House of Lords suggested two main changes:

- UNFAIR DISMISSAL: Keeping the rule that employees need to work for at least six months before they can claim unfair dismissal, to help small businesses without dedicated HR staff.
- ZERO HOUR: Changing the employer's responsibility from always offering regular hours to allowing workers to ask for guaranteed hours if they want.

These suggested changes go against the promises made by the Government in their 2024 election manifesto. Because of that, we expect to see the Bill go back and forth between the House of Commons and the House of Lords before it becomes law.

💷 Minimum Wage Update 💷
The Low Pay Commission has released it's latest projections for the National Living Wage from next April.
The working figure is currently £12.71 (up 4.1%), but could land between £12.55–£12.86, to stay above two-thirds UK median earnings.
It's worth bearing in mind that recommendations consider economic factors so these figures may change, and rates could rise further if wage growth accelerates.

The milestones keep coming thick and fast! Two years ago today, joined our fledgling team. Since then, we’ve continued going from strength to strength - in no small part due to her unwavering commitment.

Happy anniversary, Faye! In some ways it’s flown, but we can barely remember a time when you weren’t an integral part of our team! Here’s to the next chapter! ✍️
