Summer Solvent Cementing Checklist 09/06/2026

Thanks to everyone who voted in our warm weather solvent cementing poll.

The results showed two clear pressure points for site teams:

40% rushed preparation
40% cement drying too quickly

For PVC-U, PVC-C and ABS pipework, warm weather can reduce the room for error. That makes preparation even more important.
Clean surfaces, square cuts, correct chamfering, socket depth marking, even cement application and proper cure time all help reduce avoidable jointing problems.

To support installers, contractors and maintenance teams, we have created a practical summer solvent cementing checklist.

Download it here:

Working on a wastewater dosing project?

It is worth checking the pipework details before the order goes in.

Dosing applications can involve aggressive chemicals, tight routes, regular maintenance and real consequences if leakage occurs. In many cases, the question is not just “what pipe do we need?”, but “how do we manage the risk if something goes wrong?”

IPS can support with:

💧Material selection
💧Chemical compatibility checks
💧Dual containment options
💧Valves and flow control
💧Installation tools and guidance
💧Repeat ordering through the IPS E-Commerce Platform

Before replacing like-for-like or choosing on price alone, speak to IPS about the duty conditions.

A short check at the start can help avoid a much bigger issue on site.

Warm weather can make solvent cementing more challenging than it looks.

Before work starts on site, a few simple checks can help reduce avoidable jointing issues, failed pressure tests and costly rework.

Our Summer Solvent Cementing Checklist is designed for contractors, installers, maintenance teams, engineers and buyers working with PVC-U, PVC-C and ABS systems in warmer conditions. It covers key checks including pipe preparation, dry fit, primer and cement condition, applicator selection, joint holding time and full cure before pressure testing.

Download the checklist and share it with your site team before installation begins.

Solvent cementing this summer? A few simple checks can make a big difference.

Warm weather and busy sites can make it tempting to rush pipework jointing, but preparation is still the most important part.

Before making a joint, check that the pipe and fitting are clean and dry, the pipe is cut square, the end is deburred and chamfered, and the socket depth has been marked.

Use the correct jointing products for the system, assemble the joint while the cement is still wet, then allow enough cure time before pressure testing.

IPS Flow Systems can help with PVC-U, PVC-C and ABS systems, jointing products, tools and practical installation guidance.

Good joints start with good preparation.

IBC handling, but smarter.

IPS Flow Systems is pleased to be supporting Kwerk at CHEMUK 2026 on 20th and 21st May at the NEC Birmingham. You’ll find us on Stand F60.

We’ll be helping showcase the MULTI FLEX BLOCK® and more, bringing practical, flexible solutions to the spotlight for anyone working with IBC containers, chemical transfer, dosing, filling, removal or monitoring.

The MULTI FLEX BLOCK® brings several critical processes together in one system, helping support safer handling, cleaner transfer, contamination protection and accurate dosing across chemical, process engineering, food, wastewater and wider industrial applications.

Chris McKeown and Rhys Donald will be there from IPS Flow Systems, alongside Bianka Muzzalupo-Heuvens and Kwerk Technical Manager, Mr Stefan Lankinen.

Heading to CHEMUK?

Come and find us with Kwerk on Stand F60 and see the MULTI FLEX BLOCK® in action.

What a brilliant day at the Water Equipment Show in Telford.

We have had some fantastic conversations, made new connections, caught up with familiar faces, and seen real interest in the support, products, and technical knowledge IPS Flow Systems can bring to the water sector.

A huge thank you to everyone who stopped by to speak with us. From CPD interest to project discussions and new business relationships, it has been a genuinely valuable day for the team.

Excellent work from Neil, Peter, and Rhys, who represented IPS brilliantly throughout the show.

Thank you, Telford. It has been a marvellous day.

What a day. 🍩

We had the absolute pleasure of heading out to Northumbrian Water recently to deliver plastic pipe welding training and it was, without question, one of those days that reminds you why you love what you do.

The energy on site was brilliant. The enthusiasm, the questions, the willingness to really get stuck in. Northumbrian Water, you were a fantastic group to spend the day with and we hope you found it as valuable as we did.

Our Demo Van loves getting out and about to meet you, and so do we. This is exactly what it was made for. Getting out to customers, sharing knowledge, building skills where they are needed most.

A huge thank you to Mark Atkinson, our BDM in the North, for his enthusiasm and dedication in making the day everything it was. And a very special mention to our Marketing Apprentice, Beth MacDonald, whose eagerness to learn and grow on the day was a real reminder of what we are all about.

If you would like us to come to you, just say the word. We will bring the expertise, the equipment and, if you are lucky, the doughnuts. 🍩
Get in touch and let's make it happen.

Drainage people, this one is for you. 💧

We are heading to the Water Equipment Show on 14 May and we are bringing the good stuff. Our Kessel range will be front and centre, covering everything from backwater protection and lifting stations to drainage systems, CPDs and plenty more to get your teeth into.

Kessel have been engineering professional drainage solutions for over 60 years. If you have not seen the range up close, now is your chance.
Peter Harris and Neil Luck will be on stand F151 all day and, honestly, there are few people who love talking drainage more than these two. Come with your questions, your challenges, your curiosity. They are ready for all of it.

We will see you at F151.

What a morning. 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿

We have just wrapped up another brilliant CPVC Installation Training session in partnership with SNIPEF, led by our very own James Millar, and we left feeling every bit as warm as a bowl of haggis on a January morning.

James did a fantastic job. The professionalism in the room, the quality of questions, the genuine passion for getting things right. This morning had all of that in abundance.

We love being in Scotland. We work right across the UK and Ireland and every region brings something to be proud of. Scotland just has a way of reminding you why you do what you do.

Fire protection is too important to leave to chance. CPVC installation done properly saves lives, and that is why training like this matters. We will keep coming back.

If you work in fire protection and want to be part of the conversation, get in touch. We would love to see you at a future session.

In pharmaceutical manufacturing, sampling isn’t a routine task.
It’s one of the most critical control points in the entire process.

Yet too often, it’s treated as an afterthought.

When sampling is fitted around pipework instead of engineered into it, the risks are clear:

• Inconsistent data
• Increased contamination exposure
• Greater reliance on operator technique

Under Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency (MHRA) scrutiny, that approach doesn’t hold up.

Control, consistency, and compliance cannot be procedural add-ons.
They must be designed into the system from the beginning.

Sampling is not an interruption to the process.
It is part of the process.

At IPS Flow Systems, we work with partners like Swissfluid AG to support pharmaceutical applications with engineered sampling and valve solutions designed for control from the outset.
