Today’s Tarot Tuesday reflection looks at Temperance — not as self-control, but as healing, balance and learning to appreciate the moment we are in.
I hope it speaks to you.

☀️ Sunday Reflection – Midsummer: Standing at the Turning of the Light
Today is Midsummer — the longest day.
The roses are opening, the evenings stretch out, and this morning I found myself walking across the fields with the dogs, watching them run and explore with complete delight.
I’ve always loved days like this.
Not because I’m certain there’s ancient magic hidden behind every tree (though perhaps sometimes I secretly hope there might be), but because days like this invite us to notice things we usually walk past.
Today I’m inviting you to take five minutes outside.
Look at the sky.
Ask yourself:
✨ What in my life is in full bloom right now?
✨ What wants to grow next?
If you’d like to walk with me for a little while, I’ve written a full Sunday Reflection over on Singing Wolves.

I’ve caught a summer cold this week and I’m not feeling quite at my best. Nothing dramatic — but enough to slow me down and remind me that recent months have perhaps taken more energy than I sometimes admit.
So today I found myself doing something I often enjoy: looking at the current planetary transits to my own birth chart and reflecting on what they might say about this moment in life.
Not because I see the planets as causing events, but because I tend to regard astrology rather differently.
One of the ideas I enjoy in astrology is that the planets offer us a language of symbols — rather like dreams sometimes do. Jung suggested that archetypes live not only in myths and stories but in us, helping us understand our lives. For me, astrology can sometimes become a kind of cosmic theatre: ancient figures moving across the skies above and, perhaps, echoing something of the constellations within ourselves.
At present, Apollo, god of the Sun, moves through my first house — the place of identity, vitality and the experience of self. Yet he stands in tension to my natal Mars.
Mars has always seemed to me to represent something of the Warrior archetype — courage, determination, effort, our capacity to continue when life asks things of us.
But today I do not see a warrior charging into battle.
I see her slipping quietly from her horse.
She loosens the saddle and removes the bridle. Piece by piece she removes her armour and lays it beside her.
Not because she has been defeated.
Not because the journey is over.
Simply because even travellers need to rest.
Nearby stands Uranus, rising on my Ascendant — not appearing to me today as revolutionary or disruptor, but as an old magician, wandering sage, and perhaps occasionally gentle trickster.
He smiles and asks:
Must every path be travelled at full speed?
What if today is not for conquest, but for curiosity?
And watching quietly nearby sits Jupiter.
Not only king of the gods, but something of a father image — the part of us that seeks meaning, perspective, generosity and trust that life may yet hold abundance.
Moving gently through Cancer, he seems less concerned with achievement than with nourishment.
He does not urge the traveller back into battle.
Instead, he offers shade, warm food, conversation, and permission to recover.
Meanwhile, Selene, goddess of the Moon, passes through Leo. She reminds me that feelings do not always move in harmony with what we think we ought to feel.
Yet she reaches in harmony toward Chiron, the Healer, and together they seem to whisper that there may be wisdom hidden in quieter days — and that healing is not always found in action.
So the image that remains with me is this:
A warrior sitting beneath a fig tree beside a still pool.
Apollo warms her shoulders.
Her horse grazes nearby.
The armour rests quietly on the grass.
Nothing dramatic has changed.
But for a moment she allows herself simply to be.
Perhaps healing is not always becoming stronger.
Perhaps sometimes it is remembering that rest is also part of the journey.
If you work with astrology, tarot, dreams, prayer, mindfulness — or simply quiet reflection —
what story might the skies be telling within you today?

It’s been one of those quietly golden days.
Sunlight in the garden. The steady companionship of dogs. A sense, not of urgency, but of being here. Of life unfolding in its own rhythm.
And perhaps that’s exactly where we begin.
Because with the Sun in Ta**us, we are sitting in the realm of Aphrodite as Earth Goddess. Not only love in the romantic sense, but love expressed through the senses… through warmth on the skin, the smell of grass, the quiet contentment of simply being alive.
But the sky isn’t still.
The Moon in Leo brings in another presence. Something brighter, more expressive. Here we might meet Apollo, or the radiant solar child, asking:
"Where are you being seen? Expressing yourself? Where are you holding back your light?"
There is a desire here not just to feel life, but to express it.
And then we come to something more complex.
A strong gathering in Aries. Mercury, Mars, Saturn, Chiron, the Vertex, all speaking with one voice. This is not gentle.
This is Ares, certainly. Instinct, action, raw movement forward.
But alongside him stands Athena, asking for clarity and right action.
And also Chiron, the wounded healer, reminding us that action often arises from places that are not yet fully at peace.
This is where things can feel pressured. Activated. Even uncomfortable.
But in archetypal work, we don’t ask “How do I stop this?”
We ask: “Which part of me is speaking?”
And then, quietly but importantly, we have Venus, moving between Gemini and Ta**us, and brushing against Uranus.
Here Aphrodite shifts form.
She becomes less the settled earth goddess, and more the playful, curious spirit of connection, Hermes walking beside her, perhaps. Asking us to explore, to speak, to reach out in new ways.
With Uranus there, something unexpected enters.
A new idea.
A different way of relating.
A small moment that changes how you see things.
✨ So, how are we being asked to work with this?
Not by prediction.
Not by being told what will happen.
That’s not my way.
But by recognising these inner figures as they move within us:
• The part that wants peace and grounding
• The part that wants to shine and be seen
• The part that feels urgency, or even conflict
• The part that is curious, open, and ready for something new
When you can name them, you can begin to work with them.
That’s where real change begins.
It’s a beautiful sky at the moment — not because it promises ease, but because it offers richness.
A full cast of characters.
And perhaps the quiet question underneath it all is:
Which of these voices is asking for your attention today?

The Star — Hope, Healing, and the Quiet Magic of Being
After the storms of life, The Star appears.
Not with noise or drama,
but with something much gentler.
A sense of calm.
A quiet returning.
A reminder that something within you still knows how to heal.
The Star doesn’t promise that everything will suddenly change.
It doesn’t sweep difficulties away.
Instead, it offers something more real.
A moment to breathe.
To sit with yourself.
To begin again, softly.
There is a kind of magic here—but not the kind we often imagine.
Not spells or spectacle,
but the simple, steady magic of being alive, of feeling, of noticing.
Of standing under your own inner sky and realising…
your'e still here.
In relationships, The Star can point to a time of gentle healing.
After misunderstanding or hurt,
it invites honesty, openness, and patience.
Not forcing things forward,
but allowing trust to rebuild, one small moment at a time.
And sometimes, it simply reminds you:
You don’t have to do everything today.
You don’t have to have all the answers.
Just take the next small step.
Drink your tea.
Walk in the light.
Let yourself rest.
There is more holding you than you may realise.

Can astrology really help me understand where I’m going?
It’s a question many people quietly carry — sometimes with curiosity, sometimes with a little doubt.
After all, how can the movement of planets have anything to do with the direction our lives take?
For me, astrology has never been about simple prediction.
It’s more like a map — one that shows us the kind of landscape we’re moving through, rather than the exact road we must take.
And at the moment, the landscape is… quite striking.
There'
s a strong gathering of planets in Aries — the sign of beginnings, courage, and the impulse to act.
The Sun and Moon come together here, suggesting a kind of new start… or at least the desire for one.
But alongside this, we also find Saturn, Neptune, and Mars — a combination that doesn’t occur very often, and one that brings a more complex feeling.
Mars wants to move forward.
Saturn asks us to slow down and be sure.
Neptune softens the edges, sometimes bringing inspiration… and sometimes uncertainty.
So we may find ourselves in a strange place:
wanting to act, but not quite knowing how.
feeling the pull of something new, but unsure what form it should take.
Mercury, too, hovers on the edge of Pisces — a little less clear, perhaps, than usual.
Thoughts may feel more intuitive than logical, but also harder to pin down.
And then there is Venus — in her own sign of Ta**us — steady, grounded, and perhaps a little alone.
If Aries speaks of bold beginnings, Venus in Ta**us reminds us of something quieter:
the need for stability, for connection, for something that lasts.
We might feel, at times, caught between these two energies —
the urge to move forward, and the desire to feel safe and secure.
And this is where astrology can be helpful.
Not in telling us exactly what to do —
but in helping us recognise the nature of the moment we’re in.
This feels very much like a threshold.
A time of potential beginnings…
but also of questioning, refining, and quietly preparing the ground.
And perhaps the real question is not:
“Where am I going?”
but:
“What is beginning to take shape within me now?”
From there, the path often reveals itself.
How are these energies working in your life at this moment?

Tarot Tuesday — The Emperor
The courage to lead; the steadiness to care
Today, the tarot card I’ve drawn is The Emperor. Which is interesting, considering that in the sky just now, Jupiter - the astrological counterpart of this tarot card - is moving through the sign of Cancer. At the same time, he’s linked through a positive sextile to
Venus in Ta**us, and a flowing trine to the Moon in Pisces.
The Emperor is the representative of the Father of the gods, but not as a rigid authority, but as the archetypal Wise One. The one who’s lived, learned, and now holds a quiet, grounded strength. And with his present astrological links to Venus and the Moon, his is presently an even gentler kind of strength — one that protects, nurtures, and steadies rather than controls.
There's a beautiful balance here between feeling and form. Cancer and Pisces bring compassion and sensitivity; Ta**us brings steadiness and value. The Emperor reminds us that true wisdom isn’t cold. It’s used in the service of others and in our everyday lives.
The Emperor, in this light, becomes less the stern-looking ruler on a throne that he appears in this card, and more the calm presence who can hold space for others. Someone who brings structure, with care. Boundaries, with warmth.
In our relationships, this may be a moment to ask:
Where am I being called to show up with quiet authority — not to dominate, not to try to force others to my ways of thinking and desire, but to help support and stabilise?
You don’t need to force things into place.
You’re being invited to become the steady ground on which something can grow. To give the space, perhaps, in which others can be gently led and nurtured.
Reflection for today:
Where in your life can you offer both strength and kindness? To yourself, or to someone else in need?
