What is 'Tummy Time' and when should you start it? 14/06/2026

πŸ‘ΆπŸ’› Tummy Time – Little Moments, Big Benefits!

Did you know the NHS recommends tummy time as an important part of your baby’s development?

Spending short, supervised time on their tummy helps your baby to:
✨ Build the muscles they need for sitting and crawling
✨ Strengthen their neck, shoulders and back
✨ Explore how they can move their head, arms and legs

It doesn’t have to be long – just a few minutes at a time throughout the day soon adds up!

πŸ’‘ Top tips:
- Start from birth with baby lying on your chest
- Keep it short and fun – little and often works best
- Get down on their level, chat, sing or use toys to engage them
- Always supervise and only do tummy time when baby is awake
