Our Dementia Cafe runs every second Friday from 11am at MyPlace in Middlesbrough, where we sing all your old classic favourite songs. It’s a great opportunity to socialise and have a singalong with our music leaders Kenn and Kerrianne. It’s completely free to attend, and refreshments are available.

Anyone wishing to attend should contact MyPlace on 01642 728015 to book on. We’d love to see you there! 💚

Thursday Tips and Tricks!

Even if it’s just in front of your friends and family, take any performance opportunities you can. It’s arguably the best way to build your confidence.

Open mic nights will help you get your name out there, and could even lead to paid performances!

A new month means a new word!

Texture descibes the way that sounds are combined and layered in songs. Generally the more instruments in a song, the thicker the texture is.

A song that just features an acoustic guitar and singer could be described as having a thin texture, whilst a heavy metal song with lots of guitars and drums could be described as having a thick texture.

We’re back with our Thursday Tips and Tricks!

Comparison is the thief of joy! Don’t compare yourself to others, it will only hinder your confidence. Just because someone learned something quicker than you, it doesn’t make them a better musician than you.

Chances are, you can do something that they can’t do!

April means it’s time for a new word of the month!

A chord is two or more notes played at the same time. What you hear when a chord is played is known as ‘harmony’

The most common way to form a chord is a triad, which is where you play a root (first, and most important), a third and a fifth note at the same time.

E.g to form a C Major triad, the notes you would play are C (root), E (third) and G (fifth)
