Our friends Reading Community Energy Society have gone live with their latest community share offer to install a solar PV array on the Reading Buses depot in central Reading. The offer is open until 30th June, or until they have raised their funding target of £207,000. You can find out more on their page or via their website here: https://readingenergy.coop/phase4/
Our new community share offer is now open!
Reading Community Energy is launching its biggest solar project yet — a major rooftop solar installation at the Reading Buses depot in the heart of Reading.
This project will generate clean, renewable electricity locally, make use of existing rooftop space, and help keep more of the benefits of the energy transition within our community. It also builds on the 23 solar installations we already operate across Reading, supporting schools, charities, churches, community buildings and other local organisations 💚
By becoming part of the project, investors will be supporting practical local climate action while helping expand community-owned renewable energy in Reading.
The share offer includes target annual returns of 5.0% in years 1–3 and 5.5% thereafter. Returns are variable and not guaranteed, and capital is at risk, so please read the full share offer document carefully before investing.
Full details, risks and application information can be found at www.readingenergy.coop/phase4/

🌧️ ☔️ It’s been very wet in recent days - our friends at report that it’s been the longest consecutive days of rain in since 1908! As such, the River is much higher than normal, and the height difference between up-and downstream is reduced.
However, not so reduced that we can’t still generate electricity! ⚡️ For the moment, we’re operational on one screw, which means there is some at weir! This will continue as long as it can, but we’ll need some respite from the downpours for a little bit to ramp up generation again.
In the meantime, if you’re visiting our site via View Island, do take care on the pathways - they’re quite muddy at the moment.🚶
